Do you ever cheer AGAINST a nation, rather than for a nation?

I do. I sometimes cheer against Australia and some other countries. What about you?

The only time I would cheer against a nation would be when it's a team event, but the last time I remember cheering against a nation was years ago, against Russia.

But Russia this time around isn't getting all the medals anymore, since so many of the medal winners now are from the former republics/

I will always cheer for MY flag, but the Australians, Germans, Jamaicans and even the Chinese I have watched have been awesome.  A superb athlete in any sport deserves the cheers and honor of victory, regardless of nation.   I admire the person more than the country.

i dont understand why so many sad individuals need to promote that fact on forums. Is it through racism, jealousy or some other fault of human nature that you would rather watch people lose than see someone win? Loser motife fits you pretty well.

I cheer against the Aussies, china and British all the time.

Mainly th US, because of how some of the Americans try to make it look like they lost because the opposition cheated. I am Chinese and am loyal to China all the way.

I don't cheer against the US all the time. Just against some of the Americans like the one who said something about kicking some Russian butt. d**n!!! It was so amusing to see her just sit on the sidelines and watch the Russian kick her butt instead!!!

im american but cheer against usa sometimes. depends on the sport and people involved. i have no loyalty just because i reside here.

Not a nation, no. Sometimes an individual, especially those who have 'changed' their nationality.

While I never actually cheer *against* any nation or person, I will cheer for someone else to win if it looks like the competitor is being unsportsmanlike.

CHINA with their "the fix is in, so we're gonna WIN" attitude is starting to seriously p**s me off...

I'm sometimes guilty of that. Usually against USA, coz I want China to top the medal tally. Obviously nothing against the individual athletes. And sometimes cheer against certain athletes because don't like them.

Why do you cheer against Australia? You must be british.

And without a doubt against the US except if it's an extreme case.
