Do you ever eat at a restaurant by yourself?

Question

Im not talking like fast food, im talking like a Dine out Restaurant, Like a Frickers, or a sports bar for instance. Do you ever go there on your own and have a meal?

I try to avoid it, I feel a bit too self conscious of it. Its no problem for fast food, but it feels odd for a restaurant.

Yes, I have! it's really not that bad. I've found if you're okay with yourself you won't feel odd. Sometimes it's nice to be by yourself while you treat yourself

I travel all over this great country and eat by myself all the time. .

yes i do. I find it to be cheaper than taking the family and i enjoy it more. because then i can order what i really want. yeah just me all by myself i don't have to hear anybody criticizing food they would not cook for them self. It will generally cost me 6 adults 5 kids and the kids don't want to order from the kids menu any more. yes i am happy to eat alone

The only time is when I am out of town on business.  Usually I'll sit at a bar and get my meal there.  Otherwise, it's room service for me if I don't have a dinner companion.

I haven't yet but I always feel so bad when I see people eating alone especially old people. So sad.

nope! I would just feel odd and think people are looking at me. I know I personally feel sorry when I see one person at a restaurant or a movie theater. I do, however, eat fast food alone and think nothing of it! I think it's kinda expected at fast food but at a "real" restaurant it's kinda sad

Yup! The first time I have to admit, it was totally weird.. but then it was nice. Just to have that time to yourself!

Sure.  Just because you aren't with someone doesn't mean you shouldn't treat yourself to a nice meal!  Don't ever feel like you can't go somewhere by yourself to eat.  Some places may even have an area in a lounge with smaller tables that you may feel more comfortable, but if not, most restaurants have tables for 2 and there is no reason you have to fill that other seat.  Enjoy!

~~I haven't personally. I know there are many people who have to because of work and such. I guess it would feel weird, but there is no reason for it. I would definitely want to have something to read.~~

Not so much when I am at home but on my travels I eat out at nice restaurants.

I'm trying to be more independent and more confident with myself so I feel good when I can sit somewhere by myself and have a meal. I haven't eaten in a fancy restaurant but have worked my way up to Panera's which is nice. Years ago I wouldn't even have eaten in a fast food place alone. I also have sat by myself at a bar in the airport Chili's and had a drink and snack. It's nice to treat myself during the day when I'm out shopping, etc. and feel confident enough to do that. I know too many women who are afraid to be alone. Not good.
