Do you ever feel guilty about taking time to relax?

I've just got in from work and fancy watching TV or reading a good book with my feet up, but somehow I feel I should be 'doing something' like chores - do you get this way? How do you get out of it? And do you take your work/mobile on holiday with you?

  1. Sometimes, but the body and the mind need to rest. I find it difficult if not impossible to work when I'm feeling sleepy or in need of some kind of entertainment.

  2. it often happens to me. i am a student and whenever i spend my time for a movie or for a night chatting, someth just remind me that i need to study more if i want to get better and better. it all depends on you. if u think u r willing to do so just go for it. but if u just feel like ' you are punishing youself.', don't do it. no body can decide it for you i think.

  3. If I have worked or done something productive b4, then no, I never feel guilty. After coming from work, I totally look forward to relaxing and letting my hair down and doing whatever I enjoy. I'd feel guilty, If I have not accomplished anything (however small) but I am still wanting to enjoy/relax. It could be something small as "let me do the dishes and then I can read a few pages of my book". Or "let me finish a few hours of studies and then I can watch this movie". I can then relax with a freer mind then.

The thing is there is no end to "doing more". We have to draw the line somewhere. Life needs balance and body and mind and soul need rejuvenation.

If I am on a holiday, yes I take my mobile for sure, but work - no. Unless it's something really important that cannot be delayed or cant be delegated to anyone else. Depends.

  4. No, I never have this problem.

  5. Yep, and it makes me feel bad about relaxing, which in turn is not very relaxing at all!

Yes, I get work calls when I'm supposed to be on vacation. And I take them. Then I'm angry.

I guess there's no point in me relaxing at all! haha

  6. Only at work have to take time out now and then if you have to do chores perhaps get into some kind of routine spread them out through the week would take my mobile on holiday as it's got my mp3 player on it.

  10. Yes.. I feel like I'm falling behind if I take a break, but sometimes you just have to!

  13. When I was younger if I "got nothing done" I felt I had wasted time and felt guilty about it. Now I am older I get nothing done most days and thoroughly enjoy it.

  14. Yea I feel guilty trying to relax.....90% of the time I don't like trying to relax. To me it doesn't feel right I should be doing anything relaxing I start to feel bad. I feel I shouldn't be relaxing at all I should be doing something or my favorite I'd rather be working, ETC.
