My life is not turning out the way I envisioned it would be 10 years ago. I set realistic goals for myself yet I am having a lot of setbacks- personal ones. I have accomplished some of my goals but I no longer have a drive anymore and I feel like I'm no longer motivated to do the things I believed were possible at one point in my life. In addition to my lack of drive, I have devceloped a lot of self-destructive characteristics that I don't even know how to change. Has anyone ever felt like this and what did you do?

  1. Oh boy have I ever.

I had a nervous break down after separating from my ex of 12  years, loosing my father, and two other close relis in just 3 months.  My daughter use to cry her self to sleep in my bed in my arms (she was 10) and I can remember thinking know I understand how those mothers kill them self with there kids.  I don't think I would ever do it but i had empathy for them at the time.  You think its just too hard, you don't want to leave your child but u dont want them to suffer anymore.  Its been 9 years hard slog and since then her dad died.  But we r getting thru it.  The good think about hitting rock bottom is there is only one way to go - up.  Ive only been on yahoo for a week or so but already i feel better knowing  there are others out there like me.  We try so hard to be brave cause everyone around us looks like they r doing so well.  Hang in there your only 26 (I'm 51 years young) the good thing about being older is u do learn by mistakes, life experience and wisdom.  I just wish I could pass my wisdom on to you (and my 18 year old daughter) so you'd not have to suffer, but u have to make your own mistakes in life to learn.  Remember if your not out of your comfort zone your not growing.  Good Luck & keep at it. xoxoxo

  2. yes, I always felt bad for myself, because nothing was going the way I planned, I just had to realize that people and society go through changes and not everything goes the way we plan. I just had to make new goals for myself, both short-term and long-term goals
