How many of you ever have done something for your religion, such as followed a strange rule or law, without knowing what the purpose of you doing that really is? Have you ever tried to find out the purpose?

Just wondering. I saw a guy on here say that he can't use electricity on saturday, his religion's sabbath, though he didn't know why.

  1. No i have not.

And i know what your talking about.  Some Jew's don't use electricity, but they have things twisted. Originally God didn't want his people to do work on the sabbath.    Not using electricity actually makes more work for you!! I work as a security guard, and there is a resident in the community i work for that wont take the elevator on saturday, instead he takes the stairs... umm DUH that is obviously more work for you.   Also he wont drive, but he walks places ( on saturday)...       Actually the bible talks about the Jews twisting God's commandments..    They have become "religious" and do things "religiously".    Like where they bible talks about keeping Gods Commandments on your head... its a figure of speech.... well the Jews took it literally, and some walk around in Jerusalem with his commandments written on a scroll, in a box on top of their heads!

  2. No. I follow Christ. I fall down sometimes and get back up. I always celebrate Christ and what He's done for me.  I always try to show that to others. It's what He would want me to do so I do.

  3. I used to, but then I realized there was no reason or excuse for remaining ignorant of the truth.

  4.    No,  I have always  tried to find out the meanings and reasons for  my religious rites / rituals.  I don't follow  without knowing and also dont, when knowing it to be nothing but  empty  rites.

  5. I did for 17 years, then I left the Catholic church. I don't do that anymore. I read my Bible and I'm good with that.

  6. I follow no religion, and never do anything without a reason.

  7. I did as a little kid.

But at about 13, or so, I became very curious as to the why behind everything, including my religion.

My parents about went nuts trying to answer all my questions and just finally took me to the religion section of a local library and said, "Go for it."  (This was before the internet, all you yungins, we actually had to read a book back then! LOL)

But anyways, since the advent of the internet, I've found my curiousity has only grown - I read everything I can get my hands about my faith, anti or supportive.

  8. religion is only a way to control the people, if there is no control, there is no society. coz people will be doing about their day , doing what they want. nothing is sacred.

before you take communion, you must be as PURE as an angel. all sins must be confessed one month before communion. and a tedious task of flirting with a minimum of 3 parish priest as proof of penance ...

if you take communion, after staring at someones b***s and enjoying it. this piece of bread (the body of god) meant to feed the soul. the illusion is broken ....

like i said - control - even if this guy does not want to. his peers will tell on him on his elders, and he could get shunned ...

therefore if the elders say it is time to slaughter the INFIDELS, w/e

  9. Nope.

I'm sure that right now I have a BETTER knowledge of why, and in the future that knowledge will improve even more.

Oh, I was born into Catholicism, and I did a lot of things I didn't understand then. I knew what the host was for, and what the wine was for, and what the prayers and such were for. I just could never understand all that standing and sitting....
