2 lane; always very slow overtaking drives me crazy

3 lane; everyone goes in the middle lane, then the peps go in the outside lane to slowly overtake, gets me so annoyed. I just end up going up the inside lane.

People have inside-lanea-phobia

4 lane is even worse Lorry's in the two inside lanes, then slow overtaking in the outside.

And 99% of the time these peps aren't overtaking anyone! JUST PULL IN!!!!! grrrrrrrrrr

  1. No.  Learn some patience.  If they are going the speed limit, you really have no right to complain.

On a 2 lane, slower traffic drives on the right.  Even if the left land is moving just 1mph more than the right lane, they have every right to do that.

On a 3 lane.... they use the middle lane because the right lane is for the really slow people AND those that merge on and off the highway.  For long distance driving, there is too much activity on the right lane to be completely safe.  And, lane #1 is just like the 2 lane.... it's okay to be there as long as you're meeting the safe speed limit (slower in fog or snow covered roads than posted) and going about 1mph faster than who you're passing..

Just learn patience.  If this type of thing really annoy's you, you're going to die of a heart attack.  Life isn't about GETTING THERE.  Life is a Journey.  Enjoy the journey.

  2. the proper usage of a dual carriageway, of which a motorway is one type, is that all traffic uses the left hand lane and pulls out into the other lanes to overtake. However most modern drivers are too lazy and will block the middle lane to prevent anyone on the left from pulling out to overtake. Typical of the lazy self centred louts who drive these days.

  3. do not have  epilepsy  but i can say  somethink  that lorryes

  4. yes middle lane hoggers are annoying

so are the pratts that tear up the motorway at 90mph

    and tailgaters too

and people that ignore the temporary speed limits displayed on matrix signs

i'm a lorry driver and limited to between 52 and 56 mph

it can be reall frustrating being stuck behind a car doing only 55 in the middle lane, all we can do is be patient and flash  them to remind them they are causing an obstruction

don't throw stones if you live in a glass house

  5. motorway driving in the UK is nuts!!!

2/ yes it's dangerous and just plain wrong.

3/ yes it's dangerous and  just plain wrong

    4/ again just plain wrong!

some people just dint 'get' the motorway or it use.....or some are so righteous that even though the law says it's right and proper according to the high way code, according to the unwritten road etiquette they are wrong!

(for real unadulterated stress try the M25, nothing like it!)

    my thoughts are with you!

  6. There is no such thing as a 'Middle Lane' In the UK it is called the 'over taking lane', and yes people driving down the overtaking lane whilst the first lane is empty are the ones that cause the vast majority of the congestion on Britain's roads.

It is so infuriating to see the over taking lane blocked by road hoggers, the third lane blocked by those who want to get past, and the first lane as empty as far as the eye can see.

when you finally get an empty motorway and move into the first lane you can guarantee that within a few miles you will come across some idiot driving down the overtaking lane oblivious to what is going on around them. You get past them, try to take their bonnet of getting back into the first lane, and still they sit in the overtaking lane.

You say you travel at around 90 MPH. You ever had a blow out at 90? If you did you would know why the limit is 70 not 90.

  7. Yeah, it bugs me too.  But they have just as much right on the road as I do.  I just accept it, think that they are idiots, and let it go.  That's about all you can do.  Good luck with it.

  8. Guess you are not from America.  We have the same problem here.  It seems that it started a couple years ago and now it is just out of control.  I agree people have a phobia of staying in the right lane or slow lane as we call it here.  It is aggrevating as h**l when a person that is going under the speed limit wants to block traffic and refuses to move.  It is against the law here but a cop has to actually see them doing it in order to give a ticket.

  9. Tell me about it. I drove 475 miles last Saturday and if I had a pound for every middle lane hogger I had to go round I would be a rich woman. 60 MPH up the middle lane with nothing in front for miles...arghhhhh...move over you idiot.
