Do you ever get confused when someone orders a supersized fast food meal but then they order a diet soda?

Is the diet soda supposed to not make you any fatter?

  3. Yes- it's confusing.  Any kind of soda I think is bad for you-- try water.

  4. I have often wonder why people order a diet soda after ordering a large meal. I did ask a few people and the answer was they just like diet sodas.

  6. If I buy a diet coke with my supersized fast food meal then I save 100 calories and can have the apple pie too.  :-)

    I am diabetic and have learned to like diet drinks, or unsweetened tea and actually prefer them now. I do not however eat like I should so on occasion when we eat out I will order a butt-load of food and a diet drink and feel stupid as h**l for doing it. But that's what I like so....

  9. IFunny, isn't is! I used to snack on cashews with diet dr pepper.  

  10. The food is fattening enough as it is, and a large soda has over 300 calories in it, so I figure why make it worse by adding any unnecessary calories to your already gross and fattening meal.

    It would take almost an hour at the gym to burn off the one soda (combined with the 2+ you have to work out to burn off that big mac and large fries!), so it makes less work for me later!

    I hate the taste of sugary drinks, so it's second nature for me to order a water or diet coke anyways.

  12. I used to think people were idiots for that, but I do it now too.

    I find sugary drinks pack on more pounds than fatty foods.

    * They could prefer the flavor.

    * They could be trying in a small way to reduce the fatty impact of the food they are eating.

    * They could just be showing off that they are trying to eat something less fatty, like ordering a salad and then slathering it with Ranch dressing.

  14. Well, a big soda can be upwards of 200 calories, when a diet soda is 0, so either they figure why add 200 more to an already bad lunch idea, or some people I know really just like the taste. Diet pops aren't so strong, and aren't so sweet.  They are really refreshing.

    cuz in our brains the food makes us gain 5 lbs but the diet soda makes us lose 7.
