Do you ever get disgusted with your favorite team's fans?

I just finished reading some Bleacher Report column by an everyday fan and although his writing skills may be pretty good, his concepts/ideas are downright pitiful. I'm so glad Doug Wilson is the GM and not these so called fans that I might actually have to sit next to at the Tank next season. What made it worse was the few followers that would comment how great the author's ideas were. Thank goodness there's Y/A! lol

How about you and what was the reason for the disgust if any?

absolutely! the majority of red wings "fans" in detroit are bandwagoners. they started liking the wings during the time when the pistons were in a lull, and after 84, when the tigers started to suck again. they got bored of those two teams, and ... what do ya know ... how convenient, the wings are good. don't ask them who was in the starting 5 (or 6) during the 80s.

then the wings do well, and it's "cool" to wear their gear. whatever.

there are a lot of GREAT red wings fans. but it seems like there are even more bandwagoners. (and i'm not talking about displaced wings fans ... in other cities ... "most" of them are legit. not all. (yankee syndrome).

i was at game 2 of round 2 against Colorado. My dad and I almost fell on the floor when NUMEROUS fans behind the protective goal netting tried to throw their hats on the ice after Franzen got his hat trick. but not once. the folks in the first two rows figured that they'd help out, and that Mr. Row # 9 couldn't throw far enough. so they picked them up off the floor of Row #1, and tried throwing it. Furthermore, the guys who weren't "quick on the draw" in those higher rows, and were not the first to throw, CONTINUED to try to throw their hats. even after they saw their buddies not make it over.

i'm not talking ones and twos here. it was like the WHOLE section. on BOTH SIDES of the rink.

i was flabberghasted. needless to say, that the tone was set earlier in the game, when the camera panned to a fan who was reading "Hockey for Dummies".

or when the crowd boos when a guy w/ the puck is bumped off of it. if you have the puck, you're open game. they want a double standard for dishing out hits.

Yeah, definitely.  Everyone knows how obnoxious some Rangers fans are.

The last NYR/NYI game I went to at MSG, there were these two kids sitting in front of me, rooting for the isles.  they were probably around 18-19.  This drunk guy, probably in his 50's, sitting maybe 5 rows in front and like 10 seats to the left, kept standing up, screaming and cursing at them, and threatening to beat them up.  He would get in their faces every time he went to get a beer.  He told me to let him know if they cause any problems (I told him to shut up).

I actually wound up bonding with those kids about it... I mean, who curses at people young enough to be their son?  I understand the rivalry and all but COME ON, get some class.

Generally, I'm very happy with Rangers fans... but we do have our share of bad seeds.

i agree with J.O Blaze Devils fans need to start first of all getting to the games i hate going to devils rangers games and having that arena be 50/50.  we need to get in the game some more

Oh no, I have nevvvvvveeeerrrr heard reports of any obnoxious Philly fans, evvveerrr.

There's definitely some anal beads out there who take everything way to seriously and just generally act like a giant sphincter when they watch the game.  Be excited for you team, but realize that there's more to life than sports.

yea specially when  they threw trash on the ice at verizon at the flyers, that made all of a caps fans look like bitcheses which were not (even though it was a bs goal but thats over now dont mess with drunk hockey fans!)

I was kinda upset when The Penguins fans were booing the Wings after they won the cup. I know it was hard to take in, but give them some respect.

i get disgusted with wing's fans sometimes... especially during the regular season.

here's why:

whether you like it or not, you have to admit that the redwings are one of the top teams in the league... so WHY ARE WE NOT FILLING UP THE JOE EVERY NIGHT?!

when i went to a few games this year, the crowd was quiet and uninterested.

Many, many times. Before Y/A I used to go on a Leafs group in Facebook and it was pitiful. People just weren't realistic. They were comparing Wellwood to Crosby and saying we would contend for the Cup next season. They would like the Leafs to sign Gary Roberts, and basically live in the past which just ain't gonna cut it. They think that tanking is bad and while everyone is entitled to their own opinions, they believe a real fan would not condone tanking. Those fans need to wake up and see that the Leafs are a crappy team and short term pain will be better for the Leafs in the long run.

As a Wings fan, I do get angry with other fans. I get mad at the homers, who cant look at things objectively.. I get mad at fair weather fans, who only like hockey when its all good... I also get mad at the wings fans that go to the games, and sit on their hands, and get mad when people around them get rowdy. But they all love the Wings when they are in the finals. I supported that team, when they were the doormat of the league,, and tickets were only $9.00, I miss those prices.. lol.. Anyways, enough babbeling, the answer is h**l yeah i do!!!!

The second worst attendance record in the NHL (The Coyotes) and the numbers would be worse if it weren't for the trans parents who root for the other team.

Most of the fan were with the team when they first came to Phoenix and winning and stop going when they were losing to go see a team that went from being losers to winners, The Suns!!

YES! all the time! in atlanta, there are people who come to the games just b/c they think its a "status thing". I've seen people do some pretty stupid things (and some disgusting things) at the games.

xfire, I agree.  I think a lot of Wings fans are so used to winning and being a top team, that some of their excitement is gone in a way.  I remember how crazy the Joe got in '97, when Detroit was in the finals, because they hadn't won a cup in so many years.  I think if the Wings struggled for a few years, didn't make the playoffs, or made it with a 7 or 8 seed, and didn't win a cup or had any success in 9 or 10 years, when they finally do good and make it to the finals, the fans will become more insane.

Yes!! A lot of leafs fans out there think we are the best team and no one can beat us. But the truth is we aren't. Right now we are probably one of the worst. So i hate it when other leafs fans get to cocky.

I also was disgusted by fans when they booed Alfredsson after he got hurt. I don't care if we are rivals. You cant boo someone while they are hurt on the ground. Thats classless.

I do get embarrassed when I run into a so-called-fan, and they don't know anything outside of the Lightning.  They can tell you about a hip-check Halpen did in the last game of the season, but they don't even know the name Forsberg, Iginla, or that there is another "Richards", but his first name is Mike.

I'm constantly disgusted by the acts of fellow Flyers fans.I NEVER cheer a guy when he gets hurt or boo when he gets up I don't care who it is.I don't throw anything at other fans or get into fights but I have to defend the good Flyers fans like myself all the time.Theres alot of great Flyers fans out there.Myself,Lubers, San,  Awesome Bill, Shock and Awe and Bob to name a few but we all get a bad rep because of drunken idiots.If you did a poll here on YA aboot the worst fans at least 70 % would say Flyers fans.Brutal!

Yeah, here in Toronto if the Buds win 2 it's time to plan the parade. Lose 2 and it's time to fire everyone ever associated with the team. We get a lot of idiots phoning in to the call in shows wanting to trade Antropov or Ponikarovski and a third round pick for Alex Ovechkin, or something equally as stupid.

Yes, I live in Phoenix and no one cares about hockey, except me.  i love the coyotes and watch every game, they get no publicity and no one follows them.  i saw on the news that they lost over 30 million dollars this past season because no one went to the games.

As a Devils fan my teams fans have much to be desired? Maybe it's the new rink and the fact that everyone is "soaking" it in, but the Excitement is lacking in those stands to say the least. I love when I'm the only person chanting, or doing the one man wave.

Devils fans are decent.  They usually don't do anything insanely stupid or rude.  It's just the NJ puckbunnies that disgust me.
