*****Note: I'm not advocating ANYONE stopping their meds, or saying that I intend to do so. I'm just asking for opinions.********

  1. Yea but they help so yea no need to quit :/

  2. I use to  but I have been on many different kinds to get to where I am and even though my depression does not remain in check my mania does and mania caused  and cost me sooo much.  I was risky with my life, promiscuous,  drinking when I know I am an Alkie,  And doing thiings like walking around at night and you know the kind of situations you can get into there. Now a days I can actually feel when I have forgotten my meds.  Forget night meds; realize I didn't really sleep,  forget mood stabilizer; realize I jump up all worried something has happened while I was asleep--very nervous a scarry feeling.  Others,  my family notice and I do too now when I have missed doses  it shows...I feel it.

  3. I did. I actually stopped. NOT recommended unless the underlying cause of the condition is "solved" or "cured".

When my psychiatrist recommended meds, I recommended a second opinion. The second opinion said that the reasoning wasn't faulty, but yes, I needed meds. I used both sides to stop the meds from being required, and then went and got a third opinion, which said that the reasoning of the second was valid, though the first one was a snap judgment.

Therefore, I went back onto Lexapro.

  4. there are times when i wish i could go off and i just think i dont want to take something that makes me not who i am but then again i have a lot of those times when i think without them i hate who i am and on them i can be a little bit more apreciative of things. with my family history i may never be able to get off of my meds so i might as well get used to it and just learn to deal.

  5. I sure do, as for 30 years I didn't have to take any meds at all.  Now, I have to take meds for Asthma,(oxygen) RLS, GERD, and depression.  However, I still believe that the alternative isn't a doable either..So will continue, for now anyway.

  6. I really hate them

  7. i am weening myself off mine right now.

i figure if i am going to get better i dont want to be pumping toxins into my body forever. they did their job now its time to do mine

  8. No, I genuinely don't, I just feel so lucky that I was able to find some that worked for me - my brother had to go through 4 different prescriptions before he found something that worked that didn't have a ton of side effects.   If I ever did start to feel tired of it I would think of how sick and tired (and crazy) I would feel if I didn't have them at all.
