Question:

Do you ever have a "cheat day", and does this happen to you too??

About once every couple of weeks I have what I call a cheat day, where I eat more calories than usual. Weird thing is, the day after I always weigh about a pound less! And it'll stay that way. Why does that happen?! Makes no sense to me.

  1. I have no idea why that happens to you.

But in general every other day ( sometimes every day) I'll work a sweet into my calorie allowance so that I'm more likely to stick with my diet.

Today I think I will have a 126 calorie chocolate pudding cup.... yummmmy

  2. You didn't say just how long you've been, eating clean, so to speak and you didn't mention anything about any workout routine you may be doing. If you do either of those two or both your metabolism is already geared up and running really good. I'm a natural competitive body builder and my diet is very clean and my workouts are intense to match the diet. I have a cheat day once a week, on Sundays...now you say your cheat day is every couple of weeks, wow, now I feel as if I'm really cheating. My cheat day still doesn't allow me to eat a whole pizza (which I could do) or enjoy an overloaded bowl of ice cream ( another thing I could do) what I allow myself on that cheat day is, maybe 2 slices, and maybe 2 scoops of ice cream...but yes, like you on that day my system is loaded with more calories then I usually consume in three days, yet I don't gain anything from it either...for me and maybe for you too, it's somewhat of a reward for us to be able to go overboard on some days and not suffer for it. It's likely because our systems are good at burning those calories. I look at it as a reward for the sacrifice I've made to watch what I eat closely and workout to promote a good feeling. That all starts from the inside with the food choices we make. It does work it way to the outside and when it does you and the people around you will notice.

So even on your cheat day don't go to far overboard, but just know that you'll be OK with it...please enjoy that day...I do...

  3. This happens because 'cheat days" help you to break up your regular calorie intake patterns. In doing so, you avoid a diet plateau. Research studies actually recommend that people change up diet routines to break through a plateau.
