Question:

Do you ever have control of your dreams? This is freaky...sometimes when I dream?

Sometiemes when I dream I become aware that I am dreaming and can consiously control what I do as if I were awake; however I cannot control the setting, the people in it, etc. All I can control is myself and when I decide to wake up.

For example. Say you are dreaming, then all of a sudden in your dream you get a thought.. You say to yourself "am I dreaming?" and then when you realize that you are, you begin to explore your dream. If you are talking to someone in your dream, you think about what you say before you say it, just as if you were awake. Then you tell yourself, ok. I want to wake up now and you open your eyes, but when you open your eyes, it doesn't feel like you were ever dreaming... it feels more like you had your eyes closed and now they are open... no big switch in states of consiousness so it feels even more like you weren't dreaming... but of course you were since you were actually talking to people in the dream....

  1. Actually, this happens to me every now and then. I'm not sure how I do it, but mostly in bad dreams I'll come to the realization I'm dreaming, and then I usually can decide when I want out. Otherwise, though, I haven't tried to control the dream-I just go with the flow.

  2. YES YES YES

finally someone else who can do this!

yes i have been able to do this ever since i can remember. but when i wake up it feels like i have been dreaming. but other wise i am the same! Before i knew i could do it i just dreamed normally( then i had a repeated dream of a wolf eating me so i tried to run away in my dream and it worked and now sometimes i don't even have to try to do it. Its just like real life where i don't get a choice if i want to take over or not.

  3. Yes. I controled the dream I had two nights ago.

  4. only when i was younger, i have a really hard time doing it now that im older. you can not control other people and it seems very hard to even influence them in any way. tis one of the coolest ways to dream by far!

  6. Yeah I have actually trained myself over the years to become very accomplished at this trick. It's called lucid dreaming and can be very beneficial (overcoming fears, fulfilling fantasies, etc). Here's a link just from wikipedia that talks about the whole field:

Kind of wordy for my tastes. If you have any other questions about it email me. Lucid dreaming is a very cool experience and I'm surprised more people aren't interested in this practice.

  7. Yup, that's called a lucid dream: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucid_dream

I think it's cool, but then it's also scary, and there's like this scary falling but also relieving feeling when waking up from a lucid nightmare...

  8. yes! everytime im having a nightmare, i know im dreaming.. and when i get scared, i tell myself; "WAKE UP WAKE UP WAKE UP" lol its scary.. sometimes i do wake up, most of the time i dont. but i am aware that i am in a dream
