Question:

Do you ever outgrow a loft bed?

We got the new IKEA catalog and in it I saw a cool loft bed with a desk underneath it. I thought it would be great for my oldest daughter in about 2 years (she'd be 9 then). Then I can give her twin bed to my youngest who will have outgrown her toddler bed by then. The rooms are 10x11, so a desk by itself would not fit and I thought this would be the perfect solution. My husband says no because she'll outgrow it. But I thought loft beds are used by teenagers and up! What do you think?

  1. Depending how big the loft bed is, she will not outgrow it.  I am 19, my sister and I share a room and there was not enough space for desks and beds.  We used to have bunk beds that took up the whole room (along with dressers).  So when we redid carpeting and painting in the house our parents got each of us a loft bed, our dressers and desks go underneath.  Also, almost all college dorm rooms have loft beds.  I use one there, also, and so does my boyfriend who is a little over 6 feet tall.  So no, she will not outgrow it, as long as you buy a twin or full size loft bed (my brother has a full loft in his room).

  2. yes but it took awhile, me and my sister both used it.

  3. My nieces use loft beds, they are 14 and 16,  and are fine in them,  so I would say no she wouldn't outgrow it.
