Do you ever play old board games (i.e monopoly, clue,etc.) with your friends what are your favourite "oldies"?

by oldies i mean games around a long time, a lot of kids only play video games so it is interesting to see board games are still popular.

Backgammon is my all time favorite. When there is a group, it is fun to play Monopoly.

My best friend and I have a game of neverending NHL Monopoly.

We keep a record of who has what properties, the amount of money, and where we were on the board after our last turn, so next time we play we can just pick up where we left off.  It's kinda fun.

Yes i do...or rather i did in the past.....this question makes me remember my old times.....childhood......i liked it......yes old board games were very exciting for me....monopoly  was my favorite "oldies". Yes....i remeber playing the 4 of us.....my bother, and my 2 cousins and i....what a game it was...i wish i could play it again.....but no......i didn't like it when they take all the fake money from me and i loose.....he.....it was pretty an old and exciting game too..i should do a rememberance day for that game....i guess......

yes we sometimes have "games night" and our friends  come over after the kids go to bed, and we play old and new board games.  One of my all time fav's is the game of Life!

I also like the pictionary ones, or charades, things that make people laugh!

CHILDREN: it has only been the last 10-15 years that computer games are all that children play...

I love playing games with friends and with family. I have lots of favourites and am always on the lookout for new games. To become a favourite of mine, it must have a good balance - mostly skill with a little luck and hopefully a play profile that keeps all the players in with a good chance for as long as possible.

Monopoly is a great game so long as people remember to auction anything that is not bought (otherwise it is a bit too long and heavily biased toward luck).

Risk is another fun game although I've always felt that the mission cards make it less interesting (its a better game when everyone has the same goal) and its a bit too easy to end up watching most of the game if you get taken out early on.

Settlers of Catan is excellent and reasonably fast paced.

There are a lot of lesser known games that are fun Oldies too, Games like Quoridor work really well with 2-4 players and they take less time to finish a game. Gobblet or squatter are also great games.

While its not really an oldie (I think it was invented in the early eighties), Octiles is a great game for a group of 2-4.

I absolutely love Candy Land!! Some of my other favorites are Survive, Splat, Tornado Rex and Bumper Cars.
