"Destroy" as in "trash" or "ruin"

"Things" as in relationships, opportunities, chances...etc

Does feeling emotional pain make you feel more "alive" and "real"?

  1. Yeah I used to do it all the time. Its actually pretty common I think Its down to your brain telling you that things are 'too good to be true' and so you get this urge to destroy them as a method of reducing the amount of pain you go through in the end.

Sometimes life seems too average and boring and destroying things helps make you feel more alive and gives you a sort of 'boost', however its a stupid thing to do as it usually hurts everyone around you and eventhough you feel better about youself your also sacrificing your close friends and family.

  2. I used to do this...the main reason was I was never used to things being "perfect", and if they were, it would be too much to handle, I would feel that the "perfection" would be over pretty soon...so might as well destroy it while I can. I don't think like that anymore though, it's not healthy and life's too short and precious to think that way.

  3. yah sometimes. i sometimes destroy my mental recovery - from a disorder - just to feel the pain. the pain is comforting, i feel i deserve it sometimes..

  4. Is this a feminine thing ? (based on who answered so far, not being sexist)...

Not sure why someone would ever do that... (Want to feel pain).
