  1. what scares me is these people also try to raise children.

I used to disagree with the fee for pets but i understand it is so the giver can be assured that the person is able to afford & committed to care for a pet.

  2. Hi Kitty. I agree. It is very upsetting on both accounts isn't it, rehoming before a kitten is fully weaned, litter trained and socialised and no fee to boot. Some people just don't realise what they are doing, (or care would be the more appropriate thing to say, I think). I wish legislation could do something to stem this sort of practice, but, legislation and rescue groups are having enough trouble dealing with and policing the current status quo in the US. If people only realised that neutering is the answer. What is it that makes people not think of neutering? Is it the cost? Neutering a kitten before 9 months old in my veterinary practice only costs about £20 ($35 US) equivalent and special free neutering clinics are available if you ask animal shelter groups. Or, is it that people think it's some form of unnecessary mutilation? Surely, neutering cannot be perceived as worse than or equivalent to declawing?! The mind does boggle on that one!

  3. Yes, and your right a person that can not pay $100 to adopt a pet shouldn't have one in the first place, I think that is a reasonable fee.

  4. I'd be MORE THAN GLAD to take them in! Problem is, my landlord doesn't allow pets. Not even fish or birds.

  5. People give pets away for bad reasons, usually it's for bait and barn work.  Barn work is ok in my opinoiin and the cat can be in/outdoor.  But those who just get a free cat to let it roam, I dont agree.  Ive heard of free cats for snake food, that makes me sad.  I also dont like when people cant relocate themselves to a place where they can have their pets.  I dont understand why people get pets and they dont treat them like a child, unconditional love.  I think all cats should be neutered/spayed and can get occasional fresh air with supervision and know who their owners are when they get lost, shots and microchips are a must in my opinion.  I can see a cat wanting to get lost and never coming back.  thats why they need love too.

  6. No, but that makes me sad. :(

  7. I get very upset with the "re-homing" fee people ask for, especially when they are advertising a kitten they found.  Why should I pay someone to take their cat, use my gas to get there, etc.

  8. pet co sold 6 newborn guinea pigs to soem people lookign for party favors. u cent take a baby guinea away from its mom for 6-8 weeks!! why didnt they jus get hamsters? or were they counting on them dying? ♥

  9. Yes....

It's simple- they're ignorant, irresponsible, and don't care.

  10. I don't even bother looking. I checked it once and I was appalled.

  11. I don't, but I would!

I get plenty mad just looking out my back door (my MIL feeds all the strays in the 'hood, and there are more every day.)

  12. i can't look at that stuff. it makes me so sad... what really makes me sad is when people are giving away their older cats that they have had for so long and are "moving and can't take the cat with" i would never move to a place where i couldn't take my babies. no thank you.

  13. It's a little disturbing, but it takes more than giving away kittens too young to really upset me.  The ones (can't call them people) who would throw the whole litter out in the woods are the ones that get me mad and make me wonder what's wrong with people.

  14. Your kidding....

SOME OF THE ONES ON THIS SITE... make me crazy!

I understand barn cats... I understand that there are SOOOOO many pets out there who do not have homes./ will be put down/

I understand that you get a pet and it is NOT as easy as you thought... but also I don't understand WHY PEOPLE DON'T GET THIER CATS SPAYED AND NEUTERED BY 6 MONTHS!  Instead of waiting until they have had a litter or are pg with the 2nd.

If we all can get people to be responsible pet owners this will cease to be a problem but until then.....

  15. "The family who can't pay $100 for a kitten at the shelter which will have shots and be spayed/neutered can't pay the vet for a free kitten so they don't need to get one anyway."

That's what I tell my mom when she gets all "OMG I can't believe you're asking for an adoption fee!"

like serously, $20-$50 is NOT bad for an adoption fee. And They can even spend that money on cat supplies as long as I see a reciept that's recent.

Anyway, I don't look at cragislist, but I look at a local one and it makes me so sad. Dogfighting is huge here (just found a dead dog not too long ago from it) and no one seems to care about the pets they're finding homes for. Free kittesn, free pit bulls, seriously waht is wrong with people?

  16. I tried to sell my canary because my cat tried to kill it twice but the nimrods on Craigslist deleted it.

I think those animal activists are all nuts!  Nobody can get a free kitten with those guys around.  Its' not fair to the family that can't pay $100. to the pound to get a kitten.  They do a total diservice to families and I wish they would go live on an island somewhere and leave the rest of us alone.
