Do you ever regret having children? Or not having children?

I wondered how others felt on this topic. I do not feel like I want to have babies yet, I have felt this way for a long time. I do not dislike children, but I feel with the way the world is going, I would worry too much. I am nearly 31 and am always being asked why I don't have kids yet, the truth is I do not feel ready. Do you regret having had children as it has compromised your own needs? Or do you feel sad that you did not have kids when you could have?

  1. no we never regret having had children, i love my wife and my wife loves me we are much happier and more fan after having a baby, and strongly believe that if u have find your loved ones and he cares about u have the baby we believe u will never regret too.  no doubt having baby is a natural process and that's the best thing for u!

  2. I LOVE having my son. He is 15 months and I was older (37) when I had him.  So I had travelled, had fun, done stuff and had a good career.  I was ready to slow down and have a baby.  It has made me change my lifestyle slightly but not a great deal, I had started to slow down before I got pregnant anyway.  Sure there are things that I cant do at the moment but that will change again in a few years once he gets a little bit older.  I just love the time I spend with him now, he makes me laugh, loves me and is just a beautiful kid.

  3. I regret not having any kids yet.I am in my late 20's every time I see my nieces and nephews I feel sad that I don't have kids in my life yet.

  4. Wow, I didn't know that there was anyone else who shared my exact view!  Nice to meet you.  I am 30 and have been married for 5 years, people ALWYAS ask when are we going to have children?  I, too, say I am not ready, which is true.  But also I do think about how crappy the world can be and think it's a little selfish to bring a child into that.  Not to mention how much traveling and fun stuff my husband and I get to do without dragging a kid along.

I think most people who are parents will answer this question with "I don't regret it at all, it's the best thing I ever did" but to be honest when I see the tired, disheveled moms at the grocery store who have three kids in tow, I wonder how it's possible?

So, if you (like me) have any doubts at all, don't do it until you are 100% ready.  Enjoy your child-free life.  It's always better to regret NOT having kids than to regret HAVING them.

  5. I don't mind in the least that I never had kids.  I just turned 50 and am quite content without kids.  I don't hate kids but I don't like being around them for very long.  I prefer dogs.  You don't have all the trials and tribulations of child rearing plus the dread teen years to deal with.  If you want to get away you can just kennel them - no babysitter!

  6. i'm 20 and i always have this feeling of dislike with children. whenever i thought i will have kids someday it makes me somehow angry. i am afraid not to be the best mom. i am afraid i can't take care of them that's why i have this feeling of not having a child

  7. I dont regret my son at all. But raising a child in todays world is very scary. And its also hard to discipline a child this day in time too. I do wish that stupid people would stop procreating though. People who have no direction in life (drug addicts mostly) and dont take very good care of their kids seem to have the most children and its sad because you know those babies arent being cared for properly.
