...Newspaper articles from when your team or a player on your team accomplishes something important? Like a playoff win, a player breaking a record, etc.

I've got boxes & boxes of newspapers from the Red Sox accomplishments.

Just wondering if I'm the only one...lol.

  1. I have a collection of Pete Rose memorabilia, most of which I got off Ebay. One such item is an empty Bazooka Bubble Gum box from 1965 with three baseball cards on the back. Rose's card is in the middle while one of the other cards is that of Ron Santo. Not sure about the third card, but I believe it might be Al Jackson...

  2. i don't usually save articles h**l i don't even read the d**n newspaper

  3. i don't have boxes & boxes of stuff but i do have some sport sections of the 98 season when the padres went to the world series and mark mcgwire and sammy were chasing the home run record....

  4. Greta ..you are a babe BTW.

I did for some. I saved articles for when Teddy Ball game passed away, The Chicago Bulls Championship runs, and LA Laker runs. But I eventually threw them out. I think it would be cool to frame one moment that stands out.

For you I say the first post "curse" WS win. (argh..this from a NY Yanks fan)

Now all I collect are baseball cards =O).

  5. Not any more...I have a World Series program from a game I went to when i was a kid though.

  6. The only one I have is Mark McGwire's 70th HR paper.

  7. I've got the sports page from the Rays inaugural game.  Sorry, to date, that's their only accomplishment.  I hope to add to my "collection" come playoff time.

  8. I love the Cincinnati reds and keep anything I can get my hands on.  I love to keep rereading about all the good stuff.  I don't keep the losses.

  9. Yeah, I save stuff like that.  I haven't had much to save for the last 18 years, though.  Really, the last 2 positive things I have are from when George Brett got his 3,000th hit and from his Hall of Fame induction.  Everything else about the Royals I've saved since then is pretty much all about ridiculously comical plays (some of those plays, the best Hollywood writers couldn't make up), embarassing losses, bench clearing brawls, player/manager meltdowns, etc...

  10. I had a collection of newspapers from when the Lakers "3-peated", Kobe's 81 point game, when Shaq got traded, among other Laker related moments and my parents threw them out!!! I was so mad.

Luckily they didn't get to my stash of Dodger related newspapers

  11. I have done it before, but I always lose them. I am not good at keeping track of things. You will have no problem finding a man who wants to marry you, if you are single.

  12. I have saved newspapers when the Yankees won the World Series in 1998-2000. I got when jim Abbot got a no hitter for the Yanks back in 1993. I even got when the Mets Clinched the NL Title in 2000. & finally i got the Boston's Herald's Newspaper when the Sox won the World Series in 2004.

  13. Yes, I still have the '02 Series papers

    Barry Bonds 756th

The Day Bill Walsh Died RIP

    Sharks make the playoffs

    Micheal Phelps gets 8

    Mavericks '08

    Thumbs Down, wtf?

  14. I've got Boston Globe front and sports sections from 28-Oct and 31-Oct, 2004 -- the day after They Won It (YES!) and the day after the duckboat parade.

A friend living in the area at the time kindly provided.

  15. I don't do that. I've kept tix from my final game at old Busch and a postcard and baseball with new Busch's logo. Outside of that, just merch.

  16. I have a newspaper add from when the cubs last won the World Series in 1908. I'm 110 years of age.

  17. yeah i did that when the mets where in the postseason in 2006

  18. I do!

I also save tickets and programs from the games I go to...

Then I put it up on the corkboard in my room!

On my corkboard:  A Josh Hamilton baseball card, a number of tickets from Rangers and Orioles games, a few newspaper clippings (not too many), a picture of my Rangers at the ASG, and some Roughriders tickets.  =)

  19. h**l yea, I'm 15 and i have a million newspapers from the sox, pats and the celtics framed in my room. i have when the sox article from when the sox won in 2004 and 2007 and when the beat the yankees in the ALCS in 04, when adam vinateri kicked that field goal in 02 and when the celtics won the championship this year and more that i haven't put up yet. (i like to put up the most important ones)

  20. I used to do that when I was younger.  But of course it was more difficult for me because my family didnt subscribe to any newspaper.  So when im lucky I go to one of thse newspaper boxes which are like .50 cents for a paper and sometimes ppl forget to close the box all the way shut and I can creep in and open it again and take a newspaper.  I used to save box scores in a little notebook.  I did that for awhile.

I also have a few whole pieces of Sports sections.  Mainly when something is huge and it mite be worth something someday. The only one I can remember is Kobe Bryant's 81 point performance.  I wish I took Barry Bonds newspaper, but no newspaper boxes were open that day.
