Do you ever think Blacks and Whites will be able to live in peace?

I've been thinking a lot lately about whether whites or blacks can ever live in peace together?

I remember when I was a kid I used to go playing with the farm workers kids, go hunting and looking for trouble.. lol

We stuck together through thick and thin. (blacks and whites)

I wish that we all had the innocence of a child again where colour doesn't matter. I'm ashamed to be crowning up in a world like this.

Will we ever be able to live almost each other without trying to kill one another?

Will we ever be able to live almost each other within trying to kill one another?

  1. I can see past the way people look so yes I believe we can and should live together without resenting each other

  2. I would love to live in "peace".  However I do not see the deep seeded tensions subsiding with in my life time.  I have no problem with races other than mine.  I have many friends of many different races.  However.....if you want to get me rilled up, start talking about how it's my fault or that I owe something to the black race because of slavery.  That's completely ridiculous!

  3. Yes I do want to live in peace and yes we can.

  4. No it will never happen to much animosity

  5. Not any more. Now all the city blacks want to do is copy the American "Gangsta ******" (their words), and get into all kinds of crime, drugs, prostitution, etc. When the kids stop playing "Grand Theft Auto" and suchlike, then you know that you're making progress.

The countryside blacks, maybe, just maybe, there's hope there. The ones who worked on the farms with the whites, and saw that each looked after the other. But that's from long ago now.

  6. I'm Black and my partneris white. I am certainly not going around bombing airlines and buildings. I think the problems in this world are far bigger than black and white.

  7. I am in a black and white relationships. It was amazing how our parents from South Africa and Germany manage to get along, and none visited each country before. When you come closer you realise that the morals are the same. The things you see on the streets has something to do with individuals but not colour. Complaining about colour is stupidity and I have realise that it is for the choosen-wise few to understand this. I am proud to be one of them.

  8. I don't think we can, the cultural difference and sadly the skin color will too often be a burden not everyone is willing to overcome.............as I've said before it is not just about black or white, but about what is happening to our land

  9. It is not about race it is about class. Unfortunately race and class coinicide in Africa, especially South Africa, as part of the ongoing legacy of colonialism and in the case of the latter, apartheid.

Just look at Hennie, Bull, Kfk and LeeJ- they are actually all two sides of the same blerrie coin and as such deserve each other- yet two are black and two are white. They are all as narrow-minded, self-righteous, bigotted and arrogant as each other so who is there to choose from? Take Darth and Heavy, Zim, T.I. and Inno- all gentle and seemingly well-educated and  kind and yet of different races.  Now think about those xenophobic morons in the SA slums and think about council estates in Britain with their chav population.... I know there are certain differences but I am sure you can see the point I am trying to make. Remember the old un-p.c. saying, "Not all blacks are k's and not all k's are blacks"... what do you think that was really referring to?

PS When I say class I do not mean it strictly in the British sense, I mean more "low" class and "enlightened" class.

  10. After spending some time on this forum and reading most answers on a good deal of the questions I have been asking myself this question constantly. The hope lies in the fact that you have asked it and if you have asked it then you must want it. Never stop wanting it Skyli because if enough people do then given time it will happen, I doubt that I will ever see it but hopefully you will in your life time although that will probably be later rather than sooner. Here's hoping.

  11. from a personal level i don't think it will ever happen. Just as the rich get richer the poor get poorer.

We live in a very spiteful world where children are brought up to hate someone because of the colour of there skin. How pathetic. ......................

  12. Dats Cool i tink so anyways

  13. My husband is black, we see past colour. I don't look at him and see a black man, I just see the man I love and respect. If people can see people instead of colour there would be no need for the c**p that goes on in this world.

  14. Who said we are not in peace. We are in healthy awareness can you see the curly hair with the brownie skin. That is more peace, Dear!

  15. blacks and whites?

    do you mean people?

you do realise there is alot more colour than those two shades..? a whole rainbow of a world.

and guess what.. you dont see the rainbow seperating into seperate colours.. so why should we..?

In my UK school, racism is not existant..to an extent.. i dont give a ****  about colour.. the person inside dictates who some one is..

  16. Possibly in countries such as America or Europe, where the blacks have adapted to European/western culture over hundreds of years. But, not in South Africa, Black and White culture are just too far removed from one another.

  17. i dont think so, there is alot of hate man. but my white freinds are superb!

  18. No time soon.

I think that there is an issue of how equality is viewed.  Many blacks feel that they are still behind and deserve to be lifted up by the government to be equal via reperations, equal opportunity, afermative action, etc.  On the other hand you have whites who see that enough has been done and it is up to the individual to achieve, like they have.

So, until that issue is resolved, no I don't think that there can be harmony.  Afterwards, and enough time has passed to have the decision forgotten... then yes.

  19. Blacks and Blacks can't live in peace together and either can whites.

  20. It all depends on your upbringing.  I treat everybody the same and I have friends from all race.  They are my best friends and we talk about everything.  We respect each other and our families and we don't turn a blind eye when someone is racist in Public.  We can make a difference as young South Africans for our kids to live a better life. We shouldn't step back and watch this country going down like Zimbabwe. We are all South Africans, we enjoy a braai and a dop. Lets live together.

  21. 21st Century bud, most of us do live in peace with other races. There are still bigots and racists all over the place, but that is a natural inclination towards difference. All people are prejudiced in some way, but you can avert that by recognizing it and trying to avoid decisions that would be made based on such.

  22. Its not about race if you ask me its about difference. people cannot tolerate difference. Its culture. & I dont believe it is possible because of a major culture clash. It would be wonderful but I dont think its possible-with years of anger, hatred and indifference, there is just too much to undo.

As long as the generation of today teach their children to live in peace and harmony with EVERYONE we can all live in peace together. But that just isnt gonna happen. Hopefully in the future when all the race issues and history have been long forgotten-if thats possible.-then we can start fresh and live together peacefully.

Would be lovely, but I just dont see it happening any time soon

  23. It is possible, but like you say, one must WANT it.  And the government must encourage it, not keep on looking back and blaming everything on the stupid white apartheid government.  That pathetic attitude will not get anyone anywhere.

The government must learn to reconcile, and do away with any apartheid-like laws = BEE and AA.  These laws have done their time, and SA has to get going and start living. Move on into a new chapter of the country.

It is not too late.  The threat of losing the world cup could be exactly what the doctor ordered.  So, if everybody will stop bickering, roll up their sleeves and start building a solid nation of togetherness, then the world cup might be saved and everyone could be bonded by this accomplishment that can only be achieved with TOGETHERNESS, and not  by continuously pointing fingers at each other.

The motto on the old SA coat of arms was: UNITY IS STRENGTH, and is still true today!!

  24. i don't think there is ever going to be peace between whites and blacks cause now is us blacks we treat whites as if there our gods and some are fine with black but you find that there is some blacks who treats whites in good way but you are going to treats the black person bad but while you are still black so no peace if we see that we are both human beings and there is no need for special treatment we will  be fine

  25. Um... well I personally have never tried to kill anyone or have them try to kill me.  There is no reason whatsoever why people of difference colours shouldn't live peacefully.  I have no idea why someone would hate someone of a different colour.  Obviously not everyone can get along with everyone else but colour should not be anything to do with this.
