I do, I think about him every time I watch a race, I was CRAZY about him when I was little, I was only 8 when he died, but for my birthday that year, I wanted to meet him and I never got to. I loved that guy so much, words coulnt even explain it. All I wanted to do that year was meet him, and I never got to, and I get so upset about it.....Like every now and then, ill really get tore up about it, like today, I started crying about it. Even though it was 7 years ago, ill always remember it like it happened yesterday.....So do you ever think about him?

  1. For years I was a Bill Elliott fan. Although Dale made me angry more than once I always had respect for him and for the way he made it into racing. Today when I think of him I smile because he did so much for this sport and behind the scenes too. He will always live in the hearts and minds of real racing fans and has claimed his seat in the winners circle of NASCAR heaven.

Today when I watch his son drive I see Sr's teaching and why he never gave jr anything but the name.

Like so many great drivers from years gone by Sr will always be remembered.

So yes I think about him... He was truly great.

  2. He was a good racecar driver. Im reminded of him everyday in here. He is always being compared to other drivers. I wish we could just let him Rest in Peace.

  3. I love him. I too think about him every time I see a race and hear about Jr. I don't cry about it, but I do think about him and remember the day it happened

  4. Yes, my family and I think about him a lot.  Especially when you see Jr. win a race or do something great.  He should have his father to share that with.

My husband has always been a HUGE Earndardt fan!  I think he cries every time he watches as Dale finally wins the Daytona 500 and like every person on every pit crew comes out to congratulate him.  That is one of our favorite memories!

Don't worry about feeling bad.  It is good to be in touch with your emotions.  It takes a wonderful person to care so deeply.

  5. well, yeah. who wouldn't think about him everytime a race is on.

  6. He resembles my Dad an awful lot so whenever I see his picture I always feel sort of sad. When I think of my Dad I think of Dale.

  7. I'm not even thinking about him now.

  8. It's hard NOT to think about him when watching NASCAR -- he was THE premier figure in the sport for so many years.  So, yes, I still think about him occasionally -- especially during Daytona, the track that he died at.

However, NASCAR has some really awesome drivers these days and it shouldn't be difficult to find another one that captures your attention.  If you really want to remember Dale, Sr., why not root for Dale, Jr.?  He learned all he knows from his daddy!

  9. nope nascar is extremely boring and pointless to me

  10. Only everyday.  I have #3 memorabilia all over my house.  He is a legend that is truly missed.

    go Jr.>>>>

DaleJr: Sounds like you have lots of wonderful memories to treasure.

  11. yes i do every weekend

  12. He was a great racer and he left a great legacy.

  13. Every Single Race, I Look at Dale Jr. and think that Dale is working through Jr. to race.  He is sitting right beside Jr. every single race.  His spirit is always there.

  14. Almost every day. It would be hard not to in my house.

  15. YES, I was at Daytona when he won the 500 in 1998, and I was there in 2001 when he died..I grew up next door to him when I was little he is only a few yrs older than I am, I really do not remember when we lived next to Martha and Ralph Earnhardt..But yes every yr the Daytona 500 I take out my program from 1998 the yr he finally got that win, My dad was a Nascar offical then I had been in Europe living for a a few yrs came back I finally got to meet him and sit down and talk with him and my dad he autographed my program we had out pictures taken together, I missed a lot of his racing yrs in 80's early 90's cause I was in Europe, but the Daytona 500 every year big time.. I know alot of the people on here are to young to remember the guy, but that was one memory in time I will never forget, my dad had shown me pictures of me with Dale Sr when I was little that I don't even remember..But every yr at the Daytona 500 in my mind I can still see my dad in that line of Nascar officials congratulating him on that win, me I was just screaming away on pit road, yes I get chills.

R.I.P Dale Sr & my dad also..

  16. that's so sweet of you. so genuine and sincere. I think about him everytime I open my closet door and see my #3 Goodwrench jacket hanging next to my other jackets. I rarely wear it, but when I do it feels like i'm at home.

  17. Every time I see Kyle Busch driving I think of Earnhardt

  18. No...no real reason to.

  19. Yes, every day, I have his portraits and all his win photos on my walls, and my den is loaded with all his full die cast cars, everyone he ever drove, and the colors, I especially like the one that was his first car, it was pink........

and living next to Dale Sr is kinda hard, since his house was on a lake right beside his house, and he owned all the land for over 400 acres in either direction, so no one lived next door to him....Jr's, house is right across from DEI and his house was the closet to Dale Sr's place,.

and we were there the year he was killed, we were in the pits, it was awful, as long as it took them to get him out of the car, we all stayed at the track forever, waiting on the fatal news, and Bill France came into the pits and told everyone, before he made the grim announcement on the radio that day.

that is a day in Nascar that no one will ever forget.

and no matter who it is, there will never be another Dale Sr...no one will ever fill his shoes......

RIP Dale, we all love and miss you ....
