  1. that is just funny!!!!! you americans should stick to american football and leave rugby to the pro's (anyone but you!) coz you ain't gonna win anything in rugby!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. hahahahahahahahaha!!!!! - but then again anything is possible.

  3. They easily have both the financial and human resources to do it...but they appear not to have the will.

  4. Your team's not that bad.  However winning the World Cup is a big ask.

It would be like Australia winning the Gold Medal in men's Basketball.

  5. In all honestly, as an American, i can say that the likelihood is slim at best.  America has the money, and the personnel to become a top tier nation, however it's not being utilized.  If you think about it, the United States has a huge treasure trove of college athletes who don't go on to play professional sports, particularly American football players.  Currently, these individuals finish college then begin their respective careers.  If the United States were able to mobilize these players we'd have a huge pool of people to pick from.  The other issue is that the US is still an amateur country.  If you look at top tier nations like SA, NZ, England, or France, you'll see that they have strong professional leagues from which they can develop talent for the national sides.  While I don't mean to insult people who play in, or watch the Super League (the American domestic competition), but it's nowhere like the Currie Cup, the Top14, or the ANZ Cup.  Furthermore, the vast majority of high schools in the US have football programs, basketball programs, and baseball programs; very few have rugby teams.  This means from the very youngest age, our athletes are playing sports that aren't rugby.  Plus, the US public is neither familiar or interested in rugby.  While there are are die-hard players and fans speckled throughout the country, the majority of Americans are more interested in the NFL or the MLB. Also, the Eagles get very few international matches a year, and the squad only meets together a few times to practice so those members of the American rugby community who do make it to the international level lack both the experience and the training to compete with the top tier nations.

One area where the US is preforming surprisingly well is that in 7s rugby.  And we actually host a leg of the IRB World Sevens Series.

  6. No, we just don't have the same enthusiasm as the rest of the world does, just like soccer we will always be in the back, but high schools and u-19 leagues have a chance

  7. Anything is possible.
