Similar to Starship Troopers. That would be awesome.

  1. No.

  2. I knew you would ask that!

  3. well, that depends if the species lives long enough to evolve that much... the way the human race is going, i doubt it... evolution takes millions of years, which the humans may not have... and, no, it would not be cool... there would be no privacy, and do you honestly think you could handle hearing all those thoughts in your head at once... you would be locked inside a padded room in a straight jacket by the time the day was over! i feel people's...well... general mood... enough, i have a strong mental and emotional constitution, but even i couldnt handle that. think about it... you walk in a room full of family members that have just lost a loved one... you know how they feel, full of grief, and it affects the entire room... could you imagine every emotion a human is capable of feeling crashing down on you at once? imagine a severly hormonal woman and her mood-swings... no, there is no chance you could handle that... what would be cool though is if the human race could evolve to be better, and be able to learn from there mistakes... not likely though...

  4. I've never seen Starship Troopers, but various forms of psi and PK have been popular in science fiction for a long time.

However, from an evolutionary point of view, there would have to be some sort of survival benefit, assuming that there was a way for some people to develop limited psi abilities.  Presumably even minor psi abilities might offer a selection advantage.

Evolution depends first on random mutations, and then the natural selection of those mutants as they have some sort of advantage that increases their rate of survival, whether it be in obtaining food or mates.

But...this is just speculative.  There is no evidence at all that humans have psi abilities now. So assuming such a thing is possible..up to this point in our evolution (1 million years or so) it hasn't provided a survival advantage.  Neither have we developed wings,or the ability to become invisible.

  5. We can do it now but most people tell themselves it isn't true or they just aren't aware of it. All we have to do is open up to the fact that it is real & pay attention to it.

  6. I don't know dude. I got a pretty strange mind and I know I am not the strangest one. Also some people are boring and stupid. Can't we evolve so we read better stuff?

  7. That would be so much fun!

Except, everyone would have no privacy at all.

  8. According to Dr. Stephan D'Twunnire, author of a report I read in 1998 at the University of Pennsylvania, he quotes; "Since we already have the basic co-existence of clairvoyance and ESP capabilities present, it is only a matter of time before we can read each others minds with the concept of pure, and absolute telepathy."

With this being stated, I too believe from past research we as a human race in the future at some point will have the capabilities indeed to read each others minds. At this present moment in the future though, I believe we are a little ways off right now. I do believe, however, that there are other intelligences that are capable of this.

    Have a nice day.

    Cheero.

  9. Why

    SO

    Serious?????

and...what if I really dont WANT to know what is on my neighbrors minds?  they are filthy little beasts....

  10. I don't think so.

I think that all of humanity used to be able to read minds and transfer thoughts, but the practice slowly erased itself, as science replaced myths and folklore.

Like an atrophied muscle. It eventually disappeared, and now we have little hope of recovering it.

  11. I think we are evolving to that point.  Only it won't be exactly reading each others minds so much as a connectedness and the same sense of purpose.

  12. God I hope not.

  13. No.  Most people cant understand each other using the standard modes of communication.  There is no way humans will ever evolve any mystical powers.

  14. No, there is know way of "evolving" for people to eventually read minds. The only way that will happen is when we have technologically achieved it through machinery implants and what not. Besides if you take the time to research you will find out that humans are actually devolving.

  15. I wish you knew my family personally.  Some people are more empathic, and I do believe that in some genetic bloodlines it may eventually evolve to that point if it hasn't.  The medical community still don't fully understand how the human mind works fully or what it's capabilities are and in a discussion that I have had with neruologists, not all deny the possiblities of it themselves.

  16. I hope not, I would have to control myself and my mind ALL the time. I happen to have a dirty mind.

  17. If there is some mutation that can cause mindreading and,

If this mindreading ability imparts an advantage to survivability, and

If the mutation can be passed on to offspring, and

If there is some natural catastrophe that causes people without the mutation to die, and

If the mutation does not cause seriously adverse effects, then

Yes it is possible, however these are really big IFs!

  18. You evolve through mutation and because the trait improves your chance of survival.  The sorts of things necessary for ESP would be too complex to just spring into place.  I am not a geneticist, but I can't imagine any biological situation that would favor such a development.

  19. That would be very fun to do indeed.  Well, I think that there is a slight possibility that we can do that.  I mean, if two people can communicate so well, then they might know how to read someone else's mind.  Anyway, sorry for the short answer.  I am burned out from answering questions.

  20. I think even if we were able to do that, in daily life, we'd be long gone by then.

  21. yes

that would be super effin sweet

  22. In a way we already have.  We humans have evolved a process called "speech" and it's a technique we use to transfer thoughts directly from one human brain to another via sound waves.  Furthermore we humans have developed an even more fantastic form of mind reading called "writing."  That process not only allows one to transmit his thoughts directly to another individual via light waves but even permits one to transmit his thoughts into the future to be received by countless individuals not even born yet throughout all eternity.

  23. Yeah and we can travel at speeds more than the speed of light through mind-power. Also because of this, people can also travel through time. Hop through blackholes and wormholes and discover other dimensions and travel the multi verse.

  24. I think we're already doing it...only most people don't realize it. In order to know if you were reading another person's mind...that person would have to tell you that you read their thoughts. And most people don't usually admit it. Somebody was reading my thoughts..or I was reading theirs....and I wrote it down to try to confirm it to him...but he didn't read it. That was a waste of effort. I've noticed it happening more with me and others and also with people on the internet....reading each others minds. I don't necessarily think it's a good thing. It can be misunderstood.  Or they could be reading someone else's thoughts and you think it's their thoughts ...but it's not.

  25. No, to evolve to do something first it must be physically possible for it to happen without breaking the laws of nature, next you have to happen to have a gene mutate to give you that ability and then the people that carry that gene must breed more successfully than those who don't.

So while it might be awesome I can't see it happening any time soon especially since humans can already communicate very effectively.

  26. If that ever happened, I think it would drive everyone crazy.

It would be like hearing a million voices at one time and not being able to shut it off.

Personally, I really don't want anyone to know what I'm thinking.

And I might not like learning what someone else is thinking either.

  27. I cannot comment about Starship Troopers, have never read or seen it. With reading minds, it is already to a point happening although, officially, not able to be explained or controlled. There is also some question as to what is exactly being read. Time may answer your question or it may become filed away where you would never have access. There is one area that was stumbled upon through the research into neurological dis-function and immune system disorders. The pineal gland, over the past near 40 years has tended to function abnormally in some of the population. Some claim it to be evolutionary while others would refer to it as more toward a de-evolution as it patterns some animals. Either way, a heightened perceptibility or ESP activity, among several others, is one of the symptoms of the dis-function. Research is being done to understand the problem/potential.
