  1. All the time, yes. And it is scary, we don't know or have any idea of what's lurking out there in the shadows. =/

  2. NO. I research these things so as not to be scared. Awed, but not scared. Too few humans are capable of wrapping their minds around this concept.

  3. Yes I do, but it doesn't scare me, it excites me! I wonder about all of the stuff that is yet to be discovered and who might discover it, and hope that one day I can solve a big part of the astronomical picture. Here is a link to a picture:

Here you can see that 90 percent of the universe is dark, and we have almost no idea about. And of the 10 we do know exist, we only know probably 5% of (I would say). It is amazing!!

  4. Yup, I do wonder.

Nope, isn't scary at all, just fascinating and filled with endless possibilities.  :-)

  5. There could be some other living species out there, but nobody has seen anything yet.

  6. Yes---  BUT it has been measured at 156 billion light years across!

Does NOT scare me--- however the number 156 billion light years is really beyond my comprehension.

EDIT-- WHY or WHO is giving thumbs down on our answers??

  7. Not scared, amazed, and the absolute wonder of it all....I am profoundly moved by the new information we have been learning about "dark energy" and "dark matter".  In the next few years we will learn so much more about the why's of space.  I can't wait!

  8. Often.  It doesn't scare me, though... it fills me with wonder.  We have nothing to fear from something just because it is so large, in comparison with ourselves.

The universe is already incomprehensible large... and it's expanding at the speed of light.  Since nothing can travel faster than the speed of light (theoretically), even traveling at those speeds, you still wouldn't be able to catch up to the 'edge' of the universe -- you'd always be exactly the same distance from the 'edge' as you were when you started.

There is something rather humbling about the size of the universe, but I don't find it scary.  Like I said, I'm awed by the vastness of space... I would give anything to be able to explore each and every nook and cranny of our universe.

  9. Don't even think about it, you'll never figure it out anyway... not in your lifetime. Wonder... yes, but scared... no.
