  1. if it is a kitten or under one year old feed it once in the morning just 1/4TH of the can , store the rest of the can in the refrigerator using a standard lid from pet smart or petco  walmart target, where ever and then feed the kitty once again at night just 1/4 of the can, record how much she/he eats and if its less than serve less next time, if shes/hes looking for more give her/him more.  But I don't think once a day is enough. I raised a cat until he was 14 when I gave him up I couldnt resist getting another kitten and she eats just the amount I described. try it out since i dont know how old the cat is or how big the cat is i can't really be much help. but my cat used to eat a whole can in the morning and a whole can at night. its really up to kitty . good luck

  2. I feed my cats mainly wet food but they always have a bit of dry to graize on if they want during the day. Please dont make the mistake of thinking that dry food cleans teeth,it doesnt and dry food is the main culprit in cystitis, diabetes and obesity in cats.  Cats arent natural drinkers therefore they need wet food for them to get their water intake,if you want your cat to drink more or are concerned I'd look into buying a water fountain, cats love running water.

  3. Like a 25% amount from a can, twice a day.

When I had 4 cats, I could feed them all once from 1 tin.

  4. Wet food is actually best for cats. The reason is, in the wild, cats normally get most of their water content directly from their prey items and drink very little. Domestic cats are no different, and because of the fact that they are designed to take in water with their meal, they have a very low thirst drive. Cats often just don't drink enough. This leads to urinary tract infections and crystals. The bit about dry food being better for teeth is a myth and has not been proven in the least. Canned/wet food is better because it more closely mimics the cat's natural diet. More on why canned food is best:

  5. I feed my cats wet food twice a day. Once in the morning and then again at night. I also leave dry food out for them all the time

  6. I was feeding my kitten 1/2 a can every night only....I noticed if you feed it to them too much it does get messy...and I noticed with my kitten...she has a sensitive stomach and even once a night was too much for her...its caused diarrhea...so now i give her moist food only as a treat on weekends.

  7. I used to feed my cat canned food once a day and left dry food out for her.  But, recently she got UTI brought on by too much dry food.  There is a lot of ASH in dry food, so don't over do it.

Once a night, one full can, should be enough (though it is recommended to feed your cat one full can 2X a day).  But, give the cat both dry and moistended dry food during the day.  That is not so messy.  AKA put water in the dry food like cereal.

See if your cat likes it.

  8. I have 12 indoor cats, but the only one who gets canned food is the one who is diabetic.  I have to be able to "monitor" how much and when he eats, so that I know he's gotten food into him soon before giving him his injections (2 x day).  I also give him dry "diabetic" food (M/D), so he gets food quite often.

The rest of the cats have a couple of 12" bowls of dry Purina One Adult and Senior foods, which I refill a couple of times a day, so that there's always food available.

With as many cats as I have, no one eats to excess, so I don't have any "fat cats"!

Hope this gives you some incite into the feeding of your cat.

    Good luck...............
