  1. a really close fight but good one pacman got a knockdown early which scored him higher. the first fight should of gone to manny this one to marquez which would of lead to a 3rd fight which would of been a epic

  2. I scored the fight 114-113 for Manny Pacquiao, it was a great fight, and a great effort on the part of both men.

  3. Yes, in fact I do.  The judges took in account the cut in Marquez right eye.  This was not caused by Pacman punches, but rather from a headbutt.  The judges should have taken in account that Marquez was able to adjust with his 3rd round KO. Even the press had Marquez ahead in the fight. If anything I thought Marquez should have won this fight, or at the very least a tie.  The fight was overall astounding.  Marquez has requested a rematch after the fight and Pacman has declined.

  4. Marquez won the fight. big time

  5. back to 2004 bs... u can't decide the fight on one round... i think Marquez won the close fight....

edit: (to ace) Pacquiaos cut was not from a headbutt that's stupid... Marquez opened that cut up with a punch!

  6. it's a fair decision. both guys fought so hard. congratulations manny and better luck next time for marquez!

  7. Final decision? PACMAN wins....let others dream on though....LOL. It is their right...

  8. it was a close fight but i thought marquez won it.. great fight though

  9. thegetaway31 could not have said it any better.  The judges also were feeding off the pro Pacman crowd.  The only question I have is how do you lose when you throw less punches and land more punches then your opponent?

  10. Pacquiao definitely deserved the win. With that third round knockdown, I honestly cannot see how that judge gave a 115-112 score in favor of Marquez

  11. It was a good decision that Manny won cause he knocked the guy down...

  12. Manny Pacquiao won a controversial split decision over Juan Marquel Marquez to take the WBC super featherweight title after an absorbing 12-round bout, shown live on Setanta Sports.

Pacquiao (46-3-2, 34 KOs) won two cards 115-112 and 114-113, while Marquez (48-4-1, 35 KOs) took the other 115-112 at the Mandalay Bay Casino in Las Vegas.

After the first fight that many felt Marquez edged despite being awarded a draw this decision seems harsh on the Mexican fighter.

It gives Pacquiao a triumvirate of victories over future hall of fame Mexican fighters after he previously beat the legendary Erik Morales and Marco Antonio Barrera.

Marquez largely controlled the first two rounds with his superb boxing, but the third round saw Pacquiao land his big shots and put Marquez on the canvas with a picture perfect left hook. He could have been awarded a second knockdown as Marquez was rocked and made to sit on the ropes in the closing stages of the round though in typical style from there he came back with a big shot of his own.

Just like the first fight, Marquez showed remarkable resilience to recover from a bad round and from the fifth onwards he began controlling the bout more catching Pac Man with straight rights.

In the seventh a clash of heads gave both fighters nasty cuts above the eye and in the eighth it seemed Pacquiao who was suffering more, blinking visibly when he got caught with a straight right but it was the Mexican’s bodyshots that were affecting Pac Man more in his best round of the fight.

The ninth saw the bout turn around once more with Marquez’s cut forcing the referee to get the doctor to look at his eye.

It seemed like Marquez would have to look for a knockout in the tenth but as he came rushing out of his corner Pacquiao caught him flush with a looping left hand that the Mexican did well to stay on his feet from.

Marquez came back with a better 11th round and with Pacquiao seemingly lacking the fitness to fight for three minutes a round, perhaps due to struggling to make the weight, the Mexican seemed to edge the last round also, despite the Phillipines fighter catching him with a couple of right hands.

The result could well lead to a third meeting between the two warriors, though Pacquiao has previously declared that this would be his last fight at 9st 4, so boxing fans may well wait until Pac Man challenges lightweight champions Nate Campbell or David Diaz.

At 34, time is not on Marquez's side but the evidence of this fight suggests he is a long way from being finished.

WBC lightweight champ Diaz (34-1-1, 17 KOs) did not impress in a majority decision win in a ten-round non-title bout with journeyman Ramon Montana (15-5-2, 1 KO) on the undercard, with wildly varying scorecards 99-91, 97-93 and 95-95.

  13. A buzzer-beater basketball shot by a point is a win. A horse race by a nose is a win. Yes, Pacquiao won.
