  1. Not at all. I am interested in specials about people. The Education of Miss ? (can't remember her last name) was a compelling and uplifting documentary of a young teacher's coming of age in her first year working with students. Her commitment and true affection for her work and her students was paramount. That she was black was incidental.

  2. It was so unimportant that I didn't even watch it.  Did it get a large market share?

It probably was only important to those that found it's content of importance.  I believe (no "feely" stuff here) that race is inconsquencial and that we, individually and as a nation, need to get past this over 100 year old issue.

Those that were offended by slave owners two centuries past have all past away and the issue is passe.

We should turn our attention to the current enslavement of peoples worldwide and mostly in Africa.

There are more black slaves in Africa and slaves worldwide now than were ever enslaved here.

Opening our eyes to the current worldwide problem and using our past lessons to help those enslaved now would be a better use of our time.

  3. number one: it was important its a reality check for people who don't have the opportunity to see how people right here on us soil live day to day.

number two: slavery has passed but racism hasn't it still alive and kicking right here NC everyday i feel it i see it but i don't let it get me

number three: get out your house some time and travel the us city to city town to town not to vacation but to see some real issues right here you don't have to travel far. trust I've seen it.

  4. wow that's crazy.  I didn't even know there was such a special.  It's pretty sad that this still has to be an issue. I feel for the african americans who don't want to be classified as a "minority" because there's no such thing anymore. I believe the USA is a melting pot of all different nationalities and the fact that there are still black specials and black channels, black beauty pageants and stuff like that makes it impossible for us to just unite as americans no matter the skin color.

  5. Of course it was important. But, like with most things, if it is not something that effects your day to day life, you won't find its importance. It's coverage of a group of people who makes up 12-13% of the nation. There is no real need for the majority in this country to ever even attempt to relate to, or to understand black Americans.
