Please state if you are physically male or female and if you feel constrained by gender roles, please tell me how, why, etc. Also, if you do not conform to the gender roles for your biological s*x, do you feel constrained by your adopted gender roles? Why or why not?

  1. I would if I were made to abide by it, but I'm not, so I'm happy.

  2. Occasionally.  Here in the South, we still have some gender roles in place that are hard to break, especially if you're a man.  They can at times be a problem.  But generally, I don't worry about it.

  3. Im Male. I don what I want without adhering to stereotypes thank you.

  4. sometimes.  I am a woman.  I think society expects me to act all girlie and I'm not.  also  there seems to be more opportunities for man, then women and men get paid a higher salary than women do.  but I'm sure men have their issues too.

  5. No I just don't pay it any attention.  People do what they want anyway.  And when you're in a relationship, do what's fair and no more - no-one can force you to do anything you don't want to do, anyway :-)

  6. No, I love doing things that a traditional woman does. I feel no shame because of it.

  7. d***o full of rat spunk

  8. I don't live by outdated "gender roles".

I do as i please, im my own person, and i don't give a d**n what others thinks.

  9. I have never felt constrained by my gender role.

  10. Yes, because my husband thinks that since i'm a woman then there's certain things I shouldn't be doing.. I understand there's alot to do with our culture..  Some things I'm talking about for example are I should not go out to bars, clubs without him and when males are present in the home then I should not be present..

  11. nope not at all. i only feel constrained by the role that i'm assigned to based on the way i look. i don't know anybody who is automatically labelled as nerdy, uninteresting, and not the dating type, because of their gender. but people do get assigned those roles because of their looks.

  12. Female

Not at all.  In fact I feel I have no restrictions due to my gender.  I am feminine by most accounts, but I have not conformed.  This is who I am.

  13. Nope

  14. i do not feel constrained by my gender role (female, straight), i love it! :)

but i do feel constrained by society and religion and what is expected of me (as in i can't do everrrryyyytttthhhiiinnnng i want with a guy, etc...), so yeah

  15. I don't feel that I'm constrained to a roll as much as I feel that (at times) I get caught up in a stereotype. People automatically assume that because I'm black, I must have several children from different fathers, little or no education, live in lower income housing, and I'm "ghetto". And I constantly have to prove myself (so to speak) to people who meet me, and show them that I don't fall into these categories, and that I'm not the 'average' (or what they assume to be average) African American woman.

As far as gender is concerned, in my opinion, must people have gotten past that (expect for some of the users who come here). Most people in the "real world" don't really pay attention to gender roles as much as they do stereotypes of people and color. Women and men of today hold a number of titles and play different roles, and it’s acceptable in most of society. So I don't really concern my self with gender roles. I don't have to conform to any of them if I don't want too.

  16. No. . . I pretty much gave the idea of gender roles up years ago.  I do what I do because I'm a person, and not because I'm female or somehow pretending to be male.

The world is so much less restrictive to people who don't fit the alleged norm once you decide the alleged norm is largely irrelevant to your daily life and that it's really just how you like to be that matters.  I don't fit well in externally-defined boxes, so I just make my own.

  17. I'm a female.

I pretty much ignore gender roles all together and do whatever I feel like, regardless of society's views of my actions.
