  1. I look for laugh lines on peoples faces.  These "lines" are tell-tale giveaways when trying to see inside a persons demeanor.  The more there are, the merrier the heart.

  2. depends certain people have a certain charm a warmness or a immunity even though they rarely laugh or smile...!! especially if its someone that I'm well known too...then i would not feel distant or different....but if it was someone new, someone i didn't understand just yet then yes it would pull me away a little and maybe i might just build a invisible barrier around myself as a defense to there coldness...but it all really depends on the person and the aura they send out... =)

  3. oh my! I can't understand those people, or at least I always think they must have some mental issues or they lack any sense of humor (though it's usually both).

Of course I try to avoid them, they make me feel insecure and strange about myself.

  4. On the contrary, I feel distant from people who constantly laugh, as for smiles, I hate them because of the Gioconda.

  5. yeah i do feel distant from them

  6. I only feel distant if their eyes are not laughing

  7. No, I don't necessarily feel distant. My father and grandfather didn't speak much and rarely laughed or smiled. Still, you could see their "smiling eyes" and knew that they "got it" but just weren't outwardly expressive. I can even be a bit like that myself sometimes. It makes a little difference, but I've gotten used to it over the years.

An interviewer once said of Maurice Chevalier that he almost never smiled -but that when he did, it lit up the whole room.
