  1. It's natural to feel this way when you go to a dealership. They sell cars all day every day and know every trick in the book. You probably only buy a car every few years, or maybe you've never done it before. You know they know more than you know.

The way to help get over the feeling is to educate yourself about the car buying process, prices, the cars you are interested in, negotiating techniques, and financing options. Fortunately for us, the Internet contains all of this information. You just have to spend some time looking for it and soaking it in. Edmunds.com, CarbuyingTips.com, Cars.com and LeaseGuide.com are some good places to start.

  2. To overcome this, do some research online first.  Know what you are looking for and the price range and know what your trade in (if you have one) is worth.  Make up your mind what your spending limit is and stick to it.  I like Carmaxx because they have a no haggle policy.  You can pick your selections out on line and then go buy.

  3. Disgusted is more what I'd call it.  They are, of course, somewhat gifted in manipulating some folks into making unwise decisions.  They will take advantage of what you consider normal courtesy.  They're a slimy lot.

I think it's interesting that GM and Ford are going to both go broke without ever uttering one breath about throwing some chlorine into the dealer network.  Their dealers made far more of their enemies than actual products could.

  4. No

  5. Definitely not. If you feel intimidated or uncomfortable it's time to leave.
