Question:

Do you feel like a creep when you're at the laundromat?

When I'm at the laundromat, I look around and think everyone else is looking pretty shady, which makes me wonder if they are thinking the same thing about me. What are your thoughts on the typical laundromat experience? Is it different for men than it is women?

  1. The last time I used a public laundromat, was about 4 and a half years ago. I do laundry at home.

But when I'm in the public laundromat, no, I don't feel like a "creep" nor do I think anyone else there is creepy. I'd usually be reading a book, playing GameBoy, eating something, sleeping, listening to music, or staring in to space waiting for my clothes to be done. I don't see what's creepy about people doing laundry.

One time someone actually stole some of my clothes in the dryer. I was doing laundry on a military base in Japan back in 2003, real early in the morning (like 3 in the morning). And no one was in the laundry room, but I had left for about half an hour and came back and noticed the missing clothing.

  2. Yeah, I used to feel shady when I went to the laundry mat.  The people at the laundry mat are just not my typical crowd.  However, I did pick up one of my favorite girlfriends at the laundry mat.  I noticed that she always did her laundry at like midnight.  She always used the same corner machine too.  This was back in the day before I was good at approaching women.  So, I put a LOT of detergent in her machine before she arrived.  When she turned it on, bubbles went everywhere.  I of course "saved her" by helping her unplug the machine and transfer them to a different one.  We had a long conversation and ended up dating for 6 months.  We are still friends and I eventually told her this over beers one night.  She had a huge laugh when I told her that I had contrived the whole incident.

  3. I like to stand in between the machines and peek at people as they do their laundry.

  4. haha they do kinda feel like that dont they

  5. If I ever own one it will be called "money".

Yeah, people might be feeling shady when they go to one, they are behind on their laundry and perhaps they are full of remorse for whatever reasons and so go to wash their sins away.

  6. I say who cares about the other people there, and who cares what the other people there are thinking about you.  Bring a good book, or bring a good friend, some cards, even a board game, and soon enough, your laundry will be done.  Just don't ever leave the laundromat.  I once left for like 20 minutes while my clothes were washing, and somebody actually took my clothes out of the washer and through them on the floor.  I was appalled.

  7. I think it's something you should only worry about, when you notice some perv smelling your dirty panties.

  8. It all depends on which ones you go to. I have been to some that are awsome, they are almost like a little hang out, but I have also been in some that are so scuzzy that I think my panties were cleaner before I washed them there. And yes I have looked around thinking wow what a bunch of losers. but they were probably looking at me like wow what a stuck up snob

  9. A little. I guess nobody likes to do laundry(I always do mine at the last minute). So, we all have these weird demeanor at laundromats.

  10. I live in Palo Alto California and when I'm in the laundromat it's usually with the rich people washing their rugs or their hired help.  I usually wonder how many millions they have and sometimes how many billions.  I guess I would be the shady one to them.

  11. I hear ya. I'm a 20 y/o white girl and I feel like either, someone suspects me of something, or I'm suspecting someone of something. Like shanking me and stealing my panties!!
