I've noticed that I'm really cranky and I feel really sad in the days following a drinking binge, does this happen to anyone else?

  1. Maybe there's reasons for behind the alcohol. It has already metabolized in your system within 24 hrs so you shouldn't feel those kinds of residual effects. The only kind of effects that should last that long if you overdo it is a hangover, which only affects you physically, such as body aches, lack of energy, and sluggishness.

But I've been depressed off and on for a few years now and sometimes when I get down I tend to drink a little more often. Maybe if you have depression the alcohol may be affecting the brain chemicals that cause depression because they are out of wack.

  2. That's because alcohol is a depressant.  It has this effect on some people.
