Question:

Do you feel sick when you surf?

I had my first surfing lesson today and started to feel kind of dizzy when I was paddling out. It might have been the fact that it was my first time, that it was foggy and I couldn't see very well, that my wetsuit felt too hot and tight, or that I swallowed some seawater. I also have motion sickness and sometimes I feel a little sick riding in the back of a car. My teacher recommended eating ginger or wearing an acupressure bracelet, and I'm going to try at least one more lesson to see if it's better the second time. Did any of you have the same problem when you first started surfing? And what would you recommend since I have motion sickness? 10 points to the best answer.

  1. Could be the fact youre laying on youre stomach, have good stomach muscle ?

You'll get used to it. Keep it up...

  2. noway Dude...It's the best natural high out there. I've been surfing since I was 11.  If you have motion sickness then take Dramamine (people take it before boat rides, I think) Just let your body get used to it. And enjoy the ride. You will get addicted.

  3. It might have been nerves that were making you sick. I used to get bad nerves before I got out in the water if the surf looked dangerous or too big, but you still go out there and after awhile you will not feel nervous anymore.  I dont believe motion sickness has anything to do with your dizziness.

Maybe you could see a doctor as well if you get dizzy all the time.

  4. yeah for the first few times you'll fell sick
