  1. Yeah cause it's so hard when you're that close and they'll be always thinking what if....?

  2. Yes, unless I hate that guy.

  3. no because if they were good enoughn they wood have won

  4. Timing to 100th of a second is getting a bit silly.  When do you start counting?  They have to give each athlete a loudspeaker so they all hear the bang at the same time.  A 100th of a second is a lot less than the bang - it can be all down to who has the thickest vest.

  5. That what makes sports so good. That's why they do it and we watch it. The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat. I've heard that somewhere before

  6. That athlete should have woken up a hundreth of a second earlier.

  7. if its a clean fair race then thats just the way it falls.

  8. Not really because I am sure they know the score.

They are given a nice IOC diploma though.

  9. In a way, yes.

Sadly it's often down to who performs best on the day.  If it were over a few races/performances, it might give a clearer result of who is the better athlete.  (Phelps would obviously still win everything :p)

  10. If I were the athlete I would have been proud of myself anyway.  I would have considered it a tie in my own mind no matter what anyone says.

  11. depends if they deserved it, but most of the time i really do.

  12. A little bit,  but in a conflicted way.  I feel bad because it's such a public loss.

They are still an amazing athlete and to even get to go to the Olympics is a huge honor.

Do I feel sorry for the athlete who missed qualifying for the olympics during the trials?  No, because I don't hear about that person.  But that must be heartbreaking too.

  13. That's life. It doesn't always come easy and you have to work really hard sometimes for good things.  That athlete wasn't good enough.  'Nuff said,

  14. If it was me then yes. I would kill myself.
