if you dont want to be in a relationship, get out. people that do not believe in monogamy dont answer, because obviously you wish to be able to have your cake and eat it too. i believe this would decrease the rise in divorce rates and prevent those from marrying that should not be committing to such a union. fear is the best method to stop a person from doing something they will later regret.

  1. I agree with you when you said fear is the best method to stop a person from doing something they will later regret. but its their life, they want to ruin so let the ruin it... be proud of your 2 year commitment and try and show people of the world that it can happen and people can be happy with commitments.

  2. NO and NO and NO! We don't live in the stone ages... This is the problem with Society; If you have been cheated on STOP allowing it to eat you away. Move on! Forget the fool that cheated on you! The relationship was probably not a healthy one in the first place. We are ALL human! Sometimes these things happen. I believe this; Don't get married to have a fancy wedding or to live happily ever after like in fairy tales. Forget the white picket fence. What will decrease Divorce is NOT to get RUSH into marry in the first place. That is the problem. These days the Oath of Marriage isn't worth the effort and many people just give up! Marry someone because you like them and want to spend the rest of your life growing with them and learning together. Because BOTH people will change as time goes by. Both will make mistakes; Remember your marriage vows "for better and for worse times". It's just a stupid idea to make adultery a punishable crime.  Instead of asking this question why not stand against Hate crimes, child abuse, human torture that goes on while SOME people have a blind eye to it. Get real!

  3. Well, I believe biblical laws should be enforce. It'd keep people in line.

Adultery is a crime in the military and rightly so.

I know of several states who still enforce adultery as a crime as well. God bless those states.

Even though there is no longer a Federal statute pertaining to adultery,  it stay may (or will) have legal consequences in divorce court.

    Adultery corrupts the individual character.

  4. Hun, we used to go around outlawing little things that may have seemed like they were a little offputting, like abortion, and alcahol.  And their oulaw caused people to go to great lengths to obtain both.  It caused some peoples lives to be ruined, it caused some people to die.  You a strike me as a woman who just had a baby for some reason.  Heh.

  5. Bring back the Scarlet Letter lol

  6. Still on the books in some counties, but never enforced.

Probably because freedom of expression reigns.

  7. Absolutely not. Why should tax dollars be wasted on enforcing a victimless, social problem? At the face value of your "logic", I take it that you would want to make premarital s*x a punishable crime as well, because doing so would reduce the number of fatherless children. The government has no business getting involved in social problems. Whenever it does, it fails, both at the expense of money and civil liberties.

  8. i think they should ....maybe pay a fine or community service

  9. Yes it would bring some morality back to this world . Even make it punishable with death. Finally some sence Marriage is  for ever so make good decisions. marriage is worth it , married for 20 years

  10. Nah...there are worse things going on. If it's proven, maybe a few extra dollars in the divorce settlement would be fair.

  11. I don't think that a lot of people who cheat on their spouses plan to do so when they get married. Therefore I doubt that the illegality of adultery would really drop the divorce rates very significantly. It doesn't seem very realistic that people would think "Yeah, I'll get married, and if it doesn't work then I can cheat on my spouse".

People get bored of each other, or the marriage isn't what it turned out to be. Marriage isn't something to be taken lightly, and for those who do, they pay for it later when they go through messy divorces and lose half of their possessions.
