Very true, maybe because nothing life changing has happend yet. Like life on Mars, WWIII?, big terrorist attack. I remember something always happening growing up in the nineties and early 21st century.

when the oil runs out and the atlantic freezes over due to global warming something will happen, i suppose that something to look forward to :)
