They are charging for services that have been free since the beginning of commercial aviation to wit; soft drinks, baggage, aisle seats. If we dont fly, they dont fly. I just think we need to come together as consumers and stop this foolishness.

  1. Would you own a business that don't make money......fuel......is the reason.........read the paper........

  2. People wont stop flying. For business people, not flying would ruin their companies, and seeing as they make up for most of the full fare tickets sold, the airlines aren't going to change anything!

  3. Sure... just like not driving will lower the price of gasoline.........eventually!!!

  4. while that would be a great scenario, i personally don't see it happening. too many people still need to fly. companies still need to send people cross-country on their business trips to get projects done, and not a single sane company manager will let one of their workers drive or take the train from NYC to LA when a flight is much more convenient. while it's true people will begin to cut back flying, especially vacationers, i highly doubt it will be enough to create a dramatic enough effect that will significantly affect the airlines to reduce fares. besides that, fuel costs are far too high, and with airlines having fuel bills in the millions of dollars, they have to put in all these new extra fees and raise fares just to make enough money to stay in business. there was a segment on cnn this afternoon about how southwest is the only major airline in america that is making money, and they are one of the few airlines that have not introduced baggage fees or beverage fees. without charging all that extra money, most airlines today would be filing for bankruptcy.

  5. people will still fly tho. thats the problem. same with gas. people are still driving even though it may be possible to lower prices by not driving.
