  1. I would not say 'ran by' - but you have to admit that 99% of anything that gets done is done by a business or bureaucracy.

  2. In many ways our country is run by businesses, definitely bureaucracies, and organizations.

Businesses have a somewhat legitimate reason to want some control:  Businesses pay the most taxes.  As one example, for every dollar removed from your paycheck to pay income taxes, your employer also pays the federal government.  They also pay property taxes, in addition to many other taxes.

  3. Yes, our politicians are in the pockets of big corporations, plus many are investors in these companies that profit in things like war. That is a big conflict of interest. They are no longer for th people and that is very sad.

  4. The rise of corporations was noted by Abraham Lincoln. The mentality of his times was government was a source for wealth. Abe was appalled at the quality of shoddy materials delivered to the US Army. Shoes delivered to the infantry would come apart the first day of a march.

Lincoln noted that corporations have all the rights of citizens without any of the responsibilities of citizens. When the law gets broken by a corporation, nobody goes to jail.

Corporations are First Class Citizens. Voters are Second Class.

Republicans won't acknowledge this history, but the fact remains that Lincoln left the Republican party to win his second term in office as a Union Party candidate.

Eisenhower was the last Republican president this country ever had. Ike knew bureaucracies and was able to shake them up. Bureaucracies are the unelected government that lingers through every election to keep the status quo permanent.

  5. I believe our country is run primarily by special interest groups

    and large corporations. $ speaks.
