  1. sure it is,first of all because the idea that only 5 countries has the right to veto is completly unfair.

Second because as we all know that it is US not UN, the united states of america rules and control the UN starting from the guards of the building to the top, for example look what happened in Gaza last month, UN didt even ask israel to stop the killing of children, but when an israeli dog get a shock because of a stupid rocket fired from gaza the whole world, starting from the UN gives israel the right to kill hundreds.

i think UN is just an organization for people like us,just to believe that killing and invading other coutnries is fair and all the world support us.

  2. The United Nations has been successful in many circumstances in peace-keeping missions. The thing that keeps it from being more successful is the lack of cooperation of the US. If we ignore the UN and go to war against the will of the UN, then we cannot complain about the UN being unsuccessful.

  3. Bosnia.  Sarajevo.  Darfur. Mogadeshu.  Chad.  Congo. Rwanda.

    Need I say more?

  4. Look at the permanent members with veto power:

    US

    Russia

    China

    UK

    France

Do you need further explanations or is that enough?

  5. Yes: Why hasn't it done much to stop the genocide in Darfur, or hasn't taken action against the U.S. for the War in Iraq?!

  6. Yes, because they entangle nations and give miscommunications. ugh, just leave all the countries to themselves. vote for ron paul, we will leave the UN.

"A federal government large enough to give us everything we want, is powerful enough to take everything we have."

    -The Founding Fathers

  7. There are several reasons the United Nations has failed at its original goal of peacekeeping.

1)the major members(veto powers) hold all the power, any control the decisions of the voting blocks.

    2) in terms of peacekeeping in international conflicts the most the united nations can do is write an angry letter to the nations involved, and attempt to organize peace talks that the nations can say no to anyway. One major flaw is that the united nations cannot invade the sovreignty of a nation.

    3) the united nations has slowely been corrupted from within. The Iraqi oil for food program was a united nations program that was started for humanitarian purposes, but became the personal kickback account of saddam huissen. These funds help support his war with the united states in the 1990s. This is just one example of the united nations flaws with peacekeeping.

    4) as for the peacekeeping force, it has been involved in numerous s*x scandals around the world. From darfur to Thailand. The peacekeepers have corrupted their purpose. Plus, in peackeepers can't fire unless fired upon. So by and large, they are ineffectual.

    5) the united nations supports terrorist activities. In Israel there is a camp called camp tzporin, which is meant for peacekeepers protecting civilians against Hezbollah. Instead there is photo evidence that 15 feet away there is a hezbollah camp.  The peacekeepers meet hezbollah everyday, and actually train with them. Not serving their purpose are they?

    6) Ironically, the united nations has no definition for terrorism or genocide. So even if it wanted to fight against terrorism, it has no official way to identify it. And as for genocide, no nation can agree on an official definition, so even if the united nations wanted to take the rights of a nation away it couldn't. This is the main reason the united nations has not done anything in darfur, because it cannot declare that a genocide is going on there.

The world needs an organization like the united nations, unfortunatly it is clear the united nations has failed in most of its peacekeeping goals.

  8. Yes, they are a hollow shell of it's former existence. Now, they go about seeing to their own needs and s***w the needs of the global community. Never before have there been so many selfish foreigners in one place with power.

    It's a dinosaur of a concept.

  9. The reason is that The UN has been made use of to lend an appearance of legitimacy to places like Haiti where it can do nothing against U.S. backed forces though it is supposed to have Peacekeepers there to keep the peace. There were articles in the news which may have been propaganda or might be true about the rape of Haitian women by UN Peacekeepers and it has been said Peacekeepers are just another arm of oppression which masquerades as force for peace that peacekeepers are an enforcement arms for american interests there a sort of Military Humanism which is a sham a cover for control of Haiti by The U.S.A.

  10. The UN is a joke.  Waste of time and money.  Watch the movie "The Hunting Party".  Excellent example of what the UN is "doing".

  11. It is better than nothing, but the main drawback is that many wealthy nations do not contribute their fare share. One of the worst offenders is a large country between Holland, Germany and Spain, that the allied forces saved from Germany twice in the 20th C and they do not contribute their share and even dropped out of the NATO! Bien venue.

  12. Of course it is.  I used to work for the UN and left after one year.  It is the most bureaucratic of organization that I have ever worked for.  So much so that it takes forever to get things done.

Is is also affirmative action gone wild.  As an American male, I was discriminated against in favor of Third World nationals and women.  Thus, they usually hire less than qualified people for key posts.  No self-respecting professional will want to make a career working there.

You also have all of these undemocratic countries as members who have no business lecturing the true democracies.  They cannot manage their own affairs yet blame the West for all of their troubles.

    The UN is truly anachronistic.

  13. The UN is pretty much a failure at whatever they do.
