  2. It depends on the restaurant. I dine alone quite often because I travel on business but I do try like to try different restaurants and different cuisines.  I try and get recommendations from the hotel personnel where I would feel comfortable. Sometimes I eat at the bar if I feel sociable or if I just want to be alone I usually go early before the restaurant gets busy. Sometimes I take a newspaper, a book, or I will have my PDA. I will be in Las Vegas for a few days and will be dining alone there. But there are so many good restaurants there  I won't be dining in my hotel room just because I'm alone. Happy eating!

  4. Not at all.  If we can't take ourselves out to dinner, we're pretty dependent.  Have you noticed how many couple go out to dinner together and don't even talk the whole time?  What's the point of that except to not be alone?

  6. well ,it depends, if i was rich and went to a posh restaurant alone it would be fine, but if i ddint have much money and went to a posh restaurant it would be akwards, if its a cafe or stabucks then thats never akward

  11. no not really but back in my single days had to do it. take a book to read, if ur hungry and want to go to a resturant it helps the awkwardness of the situation.

  12. Yes, if I go to a restaurant, I always have to be with someone, or else its just really awkward.

  14. No i feel fine if i dont know anyone there and they dont know me i dont mind.sometimes you like to unwind without company.

  17. i would hate it used to work in a restaurant and everyone used to stare at lone diners wondering if they just had no freinds or had been stood up

  20. No, in fact I enjoy the peace and quiet! I have 3 kids and an annoying husband, so every now and then will take myself out for a nice quiet meal on my own.

  21. No not at all - I like the be by myself sometimes. I will take a book or magazine and wait for my food to arrive.

  22. If it's a silver service restaurant it would be uncomfortable but a bistro would be ok.

  23. I think it's a great thing to do for yourself, to take yourself on a date.  Go to a nice restaurant, and go all out--appetizer, entree, dessert, a glass of wine or two.  You can take home what you don't eat.  

    I generally go early in the dinner shift, so I'm not surrounded by people staring at me, and I try to sit near a window, but I'm okay with being by myself.  I don't even bring a book.

    Going to the movies alone, now THAT I have a problem with. :)

  24. yes...for some reason i feel eyes looking over and such so i always buy to go... and eating at home alone and eating at a restaurant alone is somewhat the same but your more yourself when at home and i guess it's because when im out in public i think people think of me negatively and it just scares me so yea it is totally uncomfortable for me...

  25. Depends on the restaurant and if I was supposed to meet someone or not.

    Otherwise, I treasure my time alone.  I think everyone needs to be their own best friend and that means having dinner with that person.

    Enjoy whatever you want and the setting.
