i really am- i was laid off- and i can't find work- i've been out of work 2 weeks- i've applied numerous places- over 10- there is just no openings-

it was just a summer job to make money to live off of because during the school year i don't work- i go to school- but still-

its harder than ever to find a good paying job- even with a college degree or a few years of college- even graduate school doesn't add comfort- you have to almost be in the medical field or business to make money-

lucky i have my parents supporting me through my last year of college- and buying me a car- because if not- for the loans they took out- me too- and the scholarships i got- i'd be a minimum wage worker- with no car- no nothing- in some shack- my dad is a teacher- so he supports me okay considering- i always have food and running water- but overall its really expensive and hard out there- for people my age- 21- to survive-

  1. IT'S NOT HARD TO MAKE A LIVING. BUT IT IS DEFINITELY HARD TO MAKE A COMFORTABLE LIVING.JUST GETTING BY CAUSES SUCH WORRY AND DISTRESS.

  2. yes I do! eventhough things are in order it is still hard. Hubby is working 3 wks one off. That has never happened before to him. Thankfully he gets unemplyment. he is working in the auto industry with a 4 yr degree. he makes more $ then what he went to school for.

I lived at home too when I went to college.

Thankfully school will be starting again (in a few weeks) and I will go back to my job as a para there. thankfully they passd the contract where we will get more $. So in 8 yrs I will be making around 19 an hour. I am still wating to get perm though.

I have a side  business and it has not did good at all this year last year I was booming busy and no time for yahooanswers by any means. I understand. Things are alot tougher then when I went to college.

Hang in there! Something will happen and come through for you.  We people with degees still have an advantage over people that dont.We can go futhuer and get promoted quicker. Thats considering who you work for.

I consider it a blessing we have that piece of paper or will have it.. it will get better hang in there! Peace

  3. You are correct that things are more expensive.  Suggest you analyze where you spend your money and see what can be cut without being too restrictive.

One area is recreation and eating out.  Why not pack a picnic lunch, invite a friend and go explore a state park nearby?

Shop at resale shops.  They have some very nice things at very low prices.  Don't burn gas needlessly.  Combine several errands in one trip or carpool.

This won't be the only time in your life when times are tough.  Use it as a learning experience.  Some day you can tell stories about it.
