  1. The point of the stimulus checks was to improve the economy and try to get us out of this recession (yes, we are already in a recession), and there are 2 different ways that these stimulus checks are (ideally) supposed to accomplish this.

First, when the government spends more, decreases taxes, and pumps more money to the consumer, this stimulates the economy. Also, by providing consumers with more money, this is supposed to increase spending. What the gov. may or may not realize is that because we are in an economic downturn, taxpayers may simply use these checks to pay bills rather than to "spend" on other items.

  2. My wallet got stimulated this time.

Can anything happen in this world without the media bringing out the worst of it?

  3. this stimulus package is a bunch of garbage. the money isnt going to accomplish anything. Just think about how much money was waisted on postage. I don't even qualify for the check, yet I got a notice on who actually does qualify.

I understand the government wants the prevent a resession but they should have acted on other issues. Like not baling out Bear Strns and lowering taxes while ending the war in iraq.

----theres a though for all those politicians sitting up on their pedestals in DC

  4. Ironic, maybe.  Inevitable, definitely!

I think this was a case of throwing good money after bad.  My personal motto is to cut your losses, deal with the loss and move forward.  As you can tell I'm not much of a gambler, LOL!
