Do you find it odd for a father to kiss his daughter on the lips at 11 yr. old?

Please only serious answers. First of all I am not jealous in any way, I just think it is strange for my husband to kiss his daughter (11 yr old) on the lips when telling her good bye. She lives with us and her Mom so its not like they don't see each other often. Does anyone else think this is strange/odd?

Yes, I do think it's strange. I had a friend in college who kissed her brother on the lips when saying good bye... she was 20 and he was 17. It turns out that there was a history of sexual abuse by their father. But the weird thing is, is that the dad kept telling them, as they were growing up, that all of this touching and kissing on the mouth, was perfectly normal!!

my dad always use to kiss me on the cheek, so i do find that a little strange since she is 11.  If it bothers you that bad, just tell your husband shes growing up and you think it's strange.

not in the least. My family always kissed each other. I kissed my mother all her life. Kissing your child chastely is not inappropriate.

i dont think its strange, my dad used to always kiss me on the lips when i said goodnight until i was about 13 or 14. after all your still a child at 11

Um...it depends. what kind of a kiss was it.. a serious one or a very short one. i guess its okay because she's just eleven. maybe when shes a bit older her father/ur husband shud stop. lol.

It's not that unusual. As long as it's just a little peck there's no issue. Some families and some cultures are more openly affectionate, that all.

You have to consider weather or not it is appropriate for him to greet anyone with a kiss on the lips. For example does he or other family members greet or say goodbye to his mother with a kiss or grandmother? Sometimes I will have older women kiss me mostly on the cheek as a greeting or goodbye and it's kind of weird because it's not what i'm used to. I have had one who did kiss on the lips too; even weirder--but sometimes it's just how your raised.

yes i think this is odd.

i think a kiss on the forehead or cheek is as far as it should go.

my dad did used to give me kisses on the lips, but that was when i was very young.

if you dont feel comfortable with it, tell him.

I Understand your concerns, however I do believe that You should speak to your husband about him kissing your daughter on the lips If it's bothering you.

I have teenage children, but when  we dole out goodnight, good morning or goodbye kisses they're always on the cheek. My husband use to kiss my daughter on the lips until she turned maybe 11 or 12 .. after turning 12 I think My daughter took matters into her own hands by just yelling goodnight all before she went to bed. I was watching the olympics and I notice that one of the gymnast whose father is also her coach kisses his daughter on the lips after every event. If I'm not mistaken the young lady maybe over 16.

No. there is no problem with that she is only 11. as she gets older she will tell him. if you're not jealous then whats the big deal about it? she is a child. it is normal.

It's not weird. My dad kisses me on the lips too. It's called a family kiss. It is not sick and perverted at all.
