McCain: http://www.opensecrets.org/pres08/contrib.php?cycle=2008&cid=n00006424

It just seems weird to be that these companies are lobbying for both these guys... so do they both have the same agenda? Will they both have to answer the these contributors and pass legislature that favors these companies?

Libertarian candidate Bob Barr: http://www.opensecrets.org/pres08/contrib.php?cycle=2008&cid=N00002526

Barr is far less corrupted by corporate influence. Vote for him!

  1. Ha ha ha!

Barr is "less corrupted" because no sane corporation will give money to a candidate with no hope of winning? That's funny!

Businesses give money to candidates as a form of protection against misguided policies and regulations, or to get regulations enacted which eliminate their competition.

It is because of bad government intruding into the business arena that businesses have to spend the money on lobbying and fundraising in order to protect themselves.

  2. also the story on the news awhile back about mccain getting contributions from palestineans

  3. And so you see the problem with limiting your influence from corporations by refusing to take their money.  Who the heck is Bob Barr?  Has anyone other than people who dive deeply into politics even heard of him?  Therefore he's unelectable--he could have all the answers America needs, but if no one has heard of him or them, it doesn't matter.

I know that it stinks that you have to choose between the giant douche and the t**d sandwich every election, but they are the only ones with an audience.  Maybe soon the internet can change that, but I'm not holding my breath.

  4. They run the country and the world, why wouldn't they?
