  1. Offensive? No. True? Yes. Would you rather them say "clothes for fat people sold here"? What would you prefer them to say, as if they already don't butter up the truth enough?

  2. I don't find 'plus size' offensive in itself since it's already a euphemism to begin with, and what else are they gonna call them? supersizes??  But yeah, a whole store full of 'plus size clothing' is a bit much.  What are you going to tell your friends?

"Ooh, where did you get that cute top?"

"Oh, I got it at such and such a store.."

"Isn't that... that fat people store??"

You'd feel like such a lardass you'd have to make something up! "oh, um.... Khols..."

And I agree with the answer about Dress Barn.  Who wants to feel like a cow when they shop???  Whoever came up with that name should be fired.

  3. When I was large enough (size 18W)  to shop in stores that sell plus sizes, I was not offended by such a label. It is what it is! Retailers who target a specific cohort amongs the shopping public (in this case, plus size customers) want to attract those shoppers, and labeling a store "plus size' is a no-brainer way to do so.

Do you have a problem with children's stores? Record stores? Food stores? These are all labels that deliniate what is sold within as well, so I wonder what your attitude toward them is. If you have an issue with the "plus size" label, you need to either work on your attitude towards your size or you need to lose weight.

  4. Yeah I ALWAYS have though that about Dress Barn's name! finally someone said it! Though I don't usually shop there.

I mean I do agree with crazycat up there.....Even though I am a size 8 I hate those holier than thou size zero people who wander the stores with the escence of "I'm so hot" on their stupid smirking face.

I can feel everyone's pain...I was very overweight when I was younger.

  5. yes...and the worst is the "Dress BARN"  as if you are a friggin' huge animal that has to live in a barn and be fed slop.  That is degrading.

  6. As a 'plus size' woman I like the fact I have a place to shop where I wont be stared at or hear crude and rude remarks from all those  size 0, holier than thou creatures. Also the clothes in these shops are cut with our figures in mind. Not skinny patterns just cut larger. Most large chain department stores have a very limited selection and the styles look like something  designd by Omar the tent maker. I may be a large woman but I like to look fashionable and these 'plus size' stores offer that.

  7. No! Fat people need to wear...No let me rephrase that, Fat people MUST wear clothes also.

My wife and I are both a bit large and I find it nauseating to see lard rolling over the edges of pants and shorts, totally exposed. I don't need to see a wannabe Madonna that weighs in at 240 and stand 5'4" wearing outfits with the middle 1/3 of their carcass showing...

So...I am all for +size stores. As a mater of fact if it prevents the above mentioned spectacle I support Omar the Tent-maker clothing....

  8. No, because I'm not a fat b*****d

  9. I think larger women are lucky there's a store just for them.  What's to complain about?
