  1. Is autism hereditary?  I wasn't aware that it is.  If so, then yes, it is irresponsible.

  2. What a very ignorant question !

I do not have Autism and nor does my son's Father but our twin son has severe autism, Autism is not hereditary not in my family or his dad's so where you got your information from is beyond me, Autism is NOT the end of the world and i can think of worse things a child can have each child no matter what their disability a child is a  blessing !

  3. The spectrum of autism is very very wide and varies from person to person. Many people live with autism and go on to have families. Only the worst forms of autism prevent people from living a normal life. So, I do not think it is irresponsible for someone with a form of autism to live their life and procreate.

  4. It is hidden in the DNA and your family could be a carrier and not even know it until it is too late.

  5. It's a personal decision, but I would adopt if it were me.

  6. Despite being hereditary, no one should have the right to deny another person that right.

Where do you draw the lines.  Should short people be denied?  Those with red hair, or any other failing the majority dictates?

100 is normal IQ.  Would you deny 99?  80?

  7. 1/2 the boys going into the doctor's office today are diagnosed with a mild form of autism. It is getting ridiculous. If a child was born autistic to a point where they couldn't function in society they wouldn't know how to have a baby.

I guess I don't see the big deal. People with aids have children. People with herpes have children. People with cancer have children. People with diabetes have children.

My grandma had diabetes. She had 2 children, who both have diabetes. My doctor has told me I am definitely at risk, so I eat healthy in hopes to avoid it. So I guess that makes my daughter at risk as well. Should I have not had children in an effort to help get rid of this disease?

  8. who am I to judge if someone wants children

We dont get to decide who gets children.

What about people with high blood pressure or a family history of breast cancer? Do we not allow them to have kids either?
