  1. i think the dark tower series was drawn out

  2. Earlier in his career, he doesn't have this problem. I felt King hit a turning point with his book, "It," which I felt was about 2/3rds too long. Since then, many (but not all) of his books have been needlessly long. I always chalked it up to, once he became a big name & big moneymaker,  somebody (an agent? an editor? King himself?) decided he didn't need an editor any more.

I still have a lot of respect for King, despite his having turned out some appalling books in recent years. The guy is just the real deal.

  3. Well, his books are adult so maybe that is why.

  4. Reading salems lot right now

  5. The books are "drawn out" so the characters and plot get developed. That's why people care about what happens in his books. He doesnt just throw it at you, he makes you experience it. **NOTE ** I'm not disagreeing with you, but I do understand what you're talking about. Personally, I think it makes the books, but that's a matter of opinion.

Try reading Blaze. You might like that one (it's written as Richard Bachman). You may also like Cell. There is always something happening in these books.

IMO, the answerer above me is full of **** and just wants to be heard. "It" did not mark a turning point in King's career as far as length goes, AND King does most of his own editing. But look at the Stand, that was quite long and written well before It was. The only thing It marked was a change to an even more character developed story. Ex. Hearts in Atlantis, Desperation, Bag of Bones, Lisey's Story, Duma Key...

  6. yeah, but his books are too crude
