Do you find that seeing all the aggressive driving actually makes you more aggressive?

I find that seeing people merging in the last possible moments, cutting off other drivers, running amber signals, turning left after the light turns red are all really getting to me. I feel I used to be a cautious driver but seeing people actually getting ahead by being aggressive has made me drive more aggressively as well. I feel that by being safe and nice, you really get screwed. It actually scares me to see this change in own behaviour. Am I the only one who feels this way. There seems to be a complete breakdown of order in our roads.

  1. i don't drive, but that's one of the reasons i never have.

  2. just got back from boston...speed limit 65...im doing 75...and someone is up my butt trying to go 85.....glad to be back in rural virginia!!!!

  3. It doesn't make me more aggressive.  Who cares if they "get ahead"?  They will get into an accident one day because of their behavior, and then they will realize that saving 30 seconds each day wasn't really worth it.

  4. I drive pretty aggresively, but I ALWAYS let people in front of me and only "cut off other drivers" if I have room and know they won't have to slam on the brakes.  There are two places in my commute that I would literally waste twenty minutes a day if I just sat in the two mile long line to get on the highway instead of using the other two free lanes and jumping in further up.

  5. Sorry to hear you say that.  Hope no one gets hurt by your change in behavior.

I live in a large city and witness that kind of c**p every day.  I honestly do not care who gets ahead because I always give myself plenty of time to get where I'm going.  And if I am late then so be it.  Witnessing that stuff actually causes me to be more cautious.

Take your time man....it's not a race.

  6. I always drive safely. $233 per month for auto insurance is the price I pay for aggressive driving.
