My husband insists that he can't eat meat on Good Friday only fish. He's not religious and doesn't really like fish much, but still he does it every year. What do you do - do you eat what you want, or stick to the fish?

  10. yes

  11. On a Friday, the works canteen only serves fish or a curry from the day before - so I get fish every Friday

Tomorrow - no work so I might have something else

  12. lol.....fish, pizza  (cheese) tradition I'm not religious myself but don't eat red meat on a fast day!

  13. My family is Catholic so if I'm with them, then it's expected that I would stick to it - meat won't be served.  This year, I'll be spending Easter with my mother and grandmother so I'll be fed fish.  I love fish so it's not like I'm going along with it just to keep them happy!  But if I was going to be at home by myself then I would eat whatever I wanted.

However, I can't understand your husband saying this if he's not religious!  This is a Catholic tradition which other Christian religions may have adopted, but I don't understand the point of following it if you're not religious at all.

  22. He is not openly religious but he must believe in Jesus Christ if he insists on eating fish.

  23. I eat what I want, I didnt even know that was a tradition

  24. I eat a lot of fish but not religious but I think he should go with it, its good for you

  25. When I was very young. Then I tried to at least stay away from meat products. Now.... well..............

  26. Fish and chips traditional good friday food!!!

Meet was expensive in times of Jesus and fish is eaten on a good friday to represent Jesus Crucifiction.

Everyone does it  Have you never seen the qeues at the chippy on a good friday?

  27. I try to respect the tradition if I remember but sometimes its hard to remember when you're in college! I wouldn't consider myself very religious but its a nice way for to remind us of the sacrifice that Jesus made for us!

Good Friday is the day that Jesus died on the cross after sacrificing his life for our salvation...not eating meat on that day is a way of making our own little sacrifice in memory of the big sacrifice that he made for us. When you think about it what is eating fish compared to giving up your life!!

Maybe even if you are not religious yourself and don't want to make the sacrifice to Jesus, you could think about your husband who obviously cares and make the small sacrfice for the man you love!!

  28. whatever i feel like eating, i am not gonna be told i can,t have meat,
