To help pay for the war, do gas rates really bring in enough profit for this scenario to work? Are we avoiding oil exploration?

  1. no this actually hurts the government because the gas tax that the government puts on all gasoline helps pay for new roads and bridges.  If less people start to drive like they are starting to do, than the government makes less money and cannot make repairs to bridges and roads that are needed to the roads safe

  2. I'm sure tired of the high gas prices. Someone told me about this site which gives away free gift cards for gas. I can really recommend it.

  3. Talk to any fuel producer, and they will tell you very little profit is made from selling petrol at the pumps.

The government does tax petrol, but at the moment it has much better things to spend the money on than the war and oil exploration, such as trying to kick-start the USA'seconomy...

  4. I believe most gas taxes are figured at a fixed amount/gallon & do not increase as the cost of the gallon goes up.
