My mate got caught stealing drink from a club, and got caught and the police brought in. He got fined £80. Does this mean he has a criminal record? or has he only got the fine?

Thanks

  1. OK being unfamiliar with law outside  the US I am not exactly sure. However inside the US he would have a criminal record for a misdemeanor if it was under $500 US dollars. What this means for him is that he will not have to disclose it on most job applications etc... However he can petition the court to seal the record so that no one can look at it without a Judges order so that it gets buried forever so the only way it can come up is buy a Judge ordering the record opened.

  2. I aint sure i agree with the scum of the earth comments etc. But the upshot of it all is, yeah, your mate has a criminal record. He'll have to declare it when going for a new job. Failure to do so can result in immediate dismissal.

But he's been caught, been given a financial penalty so its time to move on.

  3. YES ANYTHING WITH BREAKING THE LAW IS CRIMINAL WAS HE CHARGE WITH FELONY OR MISDEMEANOR CUZ IF HAS A FELONY IS REALLY BAD RECORD U WILL NEVER BE A COP OR SECURITY OR NURSE ALL THAT GOOD STUFF WITH A FELONY.

  4. yes he has a criminal record

  5. Yep, if he was found guuilty by the court he does indeed have a criminal record.

  6. Of course he/she has a criminal record, he/she is a criminal.

In my view scum like that who steal from people should be executed.

  7. Sounds like he was given a fixed penalty notice for theft.  The police are able to do this now.  This is not a conviction as he would have to have been to court and found guilty for this.  This may even have been issued if he were arrested at the time.  It is better for him this way as it wont effect him so much in the future.

Bear in mind though he still has a sort of a 'record'.  The police record almost every dealing they have with members of the public.  There will always be a record of the fact that he was given this fine but it's not a conviction or caution.  It's more like a speeding fine.

  8. IF ITS JUST A FIX FINE IT WILL ONLY BEEN ON RECORD FOR TWO YEAR. EVER BODY AS BROKEN THE LAW SOMETIME, I DON T CARE WHAT ANYBODY SAID,BY DROPPING RUBBISH, TO DRIVEING A CAR WHILE EATING OR SMOKING, ECT ECT, SO YOU LOT  SEACH YOUR MIND THEN LET YOUR BRAIN KICK IN THEN ANSWERS THE QUESTION, YOUR LOT  ANSWERS REALLY SUPID,

  9. i think its possible the police showed leniency and just issued a public disorder offence which is a fine of £80, it is issued in minor situations such as low level crime e.g minor theft, fighting, drunkness etc...

the public disorder wont show on his record as a conviction or caution but you can check what records the police have on you by asking your local police station it will cost £10 to get your record checked.

  10. Yes they will!

The fine that they got was them being charged there punishment!

    How stupid!

  11. Yes. If you steal something you're a criminal. Once you've been arrested, fined etc you have a criminal record

  12. If he was fined, that means he was taken to court for the theft and convicted and the fine was his punishment. Sorry, it means he has got a criminal record and will have to declare this for certain jobs, courses/training, etc...

  13. Yes you're mate does have a criminal record, and deservedly so.

He is a thief and is the scum of the Earth.

Personally I would have him hung by the neck until he can no longer breathe.
