  1. At 12

  2. its wen u get 2 12 points

  3. Who cares?  If you've racked up so many points you shouldn't be on the road.  Learn to drive instead.

  4. yes 12 points and you are out. it use to be for 6 months not sure if they have changed it.

  5. When you get to 12 points the court is obliged to consider disqualification. Sometimes you can persuade the magistrates not to disqualify you by arguing reasons of special hardship -- e.g. losing your job if you no longer have a licence or not being able to get to work by public transport. It is, however, unusual for them not to disqualify someone with 12 points. Sometimes it can be to your advantage to be disqualified for a very short period, as afterwards you start with a clean slate, as opposed to having to worry about picking up another conviction. (U.K answer)

  6. You are talking about an automatic ban,you can get banned anytime,it depends on the circumstances

  7. It is 12, although one pal got a special dispensation which meant he could legally drive with 13 on his licence.

  8. In California a driver is considered negligent if they accumulate:

4 points in 12 months, or

6 points in 24 months, or

    8 points in 36 months

A minor traffic violation counts as 1 point. A serious one like DUI, hit and run or reckless driving counts as 2.

The penalty point system varies from state to state.

  9. when u have 12 demerit points, they give u 2 options:-

    1. Barred from driving for 3 months, or

    2. Keep driving with for next 6 months with 1 point and make sure u don't loose that point otherwise suspension will be at least 6 months.

So, u r not banned at 12 points unless u decide to but definitely banned for 6 months if u choose second option.

  10. I think it is when you hit 12 points or exceed 100mph.

  11. It is at 12 points, although in exceptional circumstances you might be able to keep your license beyond this, if it can be shown that you need the license for essential use, and that severe hardship would follow the suspension of it.

I once had a sales manager on 15 points, still driving legally, as he had argued in court that it was the only trade he knew, that his children lived in a different town (with Mum) from him, and that travel was essential for his job. He still used to drive with one hand on the wheel while on the phone at 120 mph, or fastening a tie whilst steering with his knees. (Idiot!) I didn't stay in the job long, and refused to be in a car with him.

Anyway, I don't think it is worth risking your license or health, and certainly not the guilt you would feel if you hit an innocent pedestrian or driver. Stick to the limits, and if an accident should happen, at least you will know there was nothing you did wrong.

    Take care.
